Round 19 wraps up with the Essendon Bombers taking on the GWS Giants in a virtual elimination final on the Gold Coast. Follow the action from Metricon Stadium with live scores on The Roar from 6:10pm (AEST).

The Bombers sit eighth courtesy of their win over North Melbourne last week, but only percentage is keeping them ahead of Richmond and Fremantle. The Giants, too, will leapfrog them if they can claim victory here, making this match almost a knockout in July.

GWS has had a bizarre week, with star forward Toby Greene one of a group of players sensationally ruled out at the last minute before their clash against Sydney, after attending the Wallabies game in Melbourne which has become a COVID-19 hotspot.

Greene remains in isolation, but in better news, winger Lachie Whitfield is set to return from a concussion, while veteran ruckman Shane Mumford should also earn a recall. However, inconsistent forward Jeremy Finlayson has been omitted, while first-year ruckman Matt Flynn’s season is in doubt after going in for shoulder surgery. Surprisingly, they’ve chosen this week to give former captain Callan Ward a rest.

Meanwhile, the Bombers welcome back star midfielder Dylan Shiel, who has been missing since Round 2 with a serious knee injury.

Dons star Jake Stringer has plenty of cause to celebrate this week, having finally inked a three-year deal to remain at Windy Hill. Can ‘the Package’ inspire the Bombers to retain their place in the eight?

yeah its been roughly a week since u mentioned dusty, guess ‘ages’ is a relative term ….. but im referring to your years of ‘freo for the flag’ predictions & your anti dusty rhetoric which has been going for a few years at least, but perhaps u dont recall that far back. rather than conveniently ‘forgetting’ your laughably inaccurate predictions maybe u should try to remember some of your many absurd utterances don, u might understand why some people love giving u a bit of stick about them

So 2 teams still in contention do not constitute a "realistic" prediction? Perhaps you simply mean that you don't agree. I haven't mentioned Dusty for ages. He is irrelevant. You can try to keep him alive but you are playing solo there.

yeah but most people’s predictions are somewhat realistic & they own up when they get proven wrong time & again …… reckon i put a lot more thought into my statement than u generally do Don, guess theres no need to engage your brain when you are pretty well either spouting unbridled blind optimism for anything related to freo or denigrating the tiges & particularly dusty

At least they won 12 to make it in 2019. Two teams won 11 and didn’t make it. Teams that only won 10 finished 11th and 12th.

Not legal contracts but, unlike you, most people tend to want what they say to have some credibility and again unlike you, most people put their hands up and accept they were wrong.

Not the next 5, but 4 of them (North, Saints, Suns & GWS). But yep I was wrong on that one (we’ll have to wait and see by how much), but right on plenty of others (like Freo being beaten by 5 goals plus against the Swans). The difference is I don’t pretend I was right or make excuses for why I was wrong.

I think most teams would be worried about facing the dogs. We could get you last round of the season and then first week in finals too. Depending on positions. Funny enough but I'd rather a loss in that last round. I dont think I'd want to go into finals not losing a match in 6 or 7 games. That bulldogs game will be one we can learn from hopefully.
