So how did it come to this for Freo?

Flying high and entrenched, seemingly, in the top eight, yet after four straight losses, their season is apparently over, now two wins out of the finals race, and needing results to go very much their way.

Aside from one competitive quarter against the Hawks last week, Fremantle were not really in that contest, and the large part of that competitiveness came from one N Fyfe, who is injured for this clash.

Ross Lyon did an excellent job of deflecting attention away from himself during the week, in particular straight after last week’s game when he highlighted what he deemed to be unfair off the ball treatment of Fyfe.

However, a fifth loss here may make such a diversion near impossible for the master tactician.

A lot will rest on the shoulders of Brad Hill, who is in career best form this season, and Lyon will also be hoping that the addition of Aaron Sandilands will provide a little bit of experience to help end the losing rot.

Meanwhile, Sydney might have accepted their fate that the season is over, sitting a further game behind Fremantle on the ladder.

Losing to Carlton last week would have been a surprise, although at the minute losing to the Blues is nothing to be overly ashamed about, as they continue to play with flair and not a care in the world.

Also, the long-term securing of John Longmire will be giving the club some impetus into next season, so a failure to miss finals this season is not the disaster it might be for some clubs.

Tom Papley has been the major spark for energy for the Swans in recent times, and if he can go into the game with a rocket lit under him, then the Swans will like their chances of taking out a wounded opponent.

The Swans have dined out on the Dockers in recent times, thumping them in each of the last three seasons.

Prediction
13th vs 14th, one of whom is on a four-game losing streak, it is a tough one to call. Ultimately, you would think that Fremantle have to win one eventually, and being at home against a team below them, surely they will get the job done here.

What alternatives do you suggest with Darcy and Sandi both injured and the Peel backups, Jones and Meek also out injured.

Hogan and Taberner are better and Cox will be too. Nevertheless, Lobb has blossomed under Ross' coaching after his 26 goals in his last 2 seasons at GWS. Get them all fit and we will do far better than our 11 or 12 wins this season.

Read my comment and you'll stand corrected. Nothing to do with youth....although the average age difference is about 3 weeks. You might like to look at those forwards that "haven't fired". Have you wondered why they are getting no possessions at all? Gotta be playing the game to do that.

Brad Hill is here at least until 2021. Just Hagdorn/Hardie hoping.

Lobb's a great player. Another one that fell in their lap. Rossy has done his best to run him into the ground by making him the ruck early in the year.

Fremantle's best forward by a long long way is Rory Lobb, the one bloke Don funnily enough didn't rate. Lobb needs to be their go to target, Hogan who knows how he will go with injuries, Lobb is the guy to build the front half around.

Unwatchable scrap fest but good to get a win. It does however just paper over the cracks which are still well and truly evident. Sydney also are not a very good football side. It was gutsy, Lobb and Brayshaw were fantastic but in reality that was two bottom 4 sides scrapping out a contest. Finals aren't realistic from here, best we can hope for is that their is enough promise shown in the back end to convince the likes of Hill and Blakely to stay. Was clear last night's game was coached by two dinosaurs Lyon and Horse as the game has passed both of them by.

Sydney have a far younger side than Fremantle. Sydney don't have Buddy, are less experienced and playing in Perth. Fremantle's best forwards have been Walters, Matera and McCarthy. Hogan, Taberner and Cox haven't fired.

No...watch the game and you'll know. That refers to both questions. No Fyfe, Stephen Hill, on-track All-Australian Alex Pearce, no big 3 forwards, Taberner, Hogan, Cox. Just a stunningly good coaching performance and team effort.

"Should be winning comfortably against a side like the Swans on your home deck." Have you been following this season? It's one where Freo lose to Carlton at home but beat Collingwood away. It's been like that across the board for basically all teams. Nothing is what should happen.

I was right about Lyon wasn't I? Is 52-51 the half time score?

It was when Rosich/Alcock (Can't remember) said Lyon will see his contract out.

5000 to 1 Swans wont win another game this year. No one should have to sit through this garbage.

Bandwagon supporter Jordan? Lol Last couple of weeks you have been barracking against Freo. Good game, glad your happy but don't see Freo making the 8. Should be winning comfortably against a side like the Swans on your home deck.

Insane intensity, and good result. But, I don't think finals are achievable this season.

Full time And the Dockers kick into a dead empty forward 50 as the siren sounds. The Dockers have done it, and they are still alive in season 2019. What a finish! How did the Swans now score at the end. Dockers have stood up when it mattered, and they get the win. Wow. Just, who says you need high scores for it to be exciting? What a game, and thanks for following us. The Dockers have won by 1 point. Fremantle Dockers - 52 Sydney Swans - 51
