The Richmond Tigers welcome the GWS Giants to the Melbourne Cricket Ground today, looking to build on the past couple of weeks. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match, starting from 1:10pm (AEST).

This is a huge game for both sides. The reason being is simply because of where they both sit on the ladder, and a loss really could be a big blow, as the season is so tight.

Despite having injuries to key players, Damien Hardwick’s side have found some form in recent weeks. They have notched up nine wins from 15 rounds.

The Tigers are coming off a thumping 92-point victory over the Gold Coast Suns, which took place at Metricon Stadium last weekend.

Dion Prestia had a solid game for Richmond against the Suns, as he finished the match with 28 disposals, and he also kicked a major.

Jason Castagna was very sharp in front of goal, as he finished with five majors next to his name for the match. Tom Lynch and Kane Lambert both kicked three majors each, also.

In team news this week for the Tigers, Jack Riewoldt comes in for the omitted Jack Graham.

As for the Giants, their season has a taken a turn for the worst. After 15 rounds, they have accumulated nine wins, which does not sound that bad, but they have struggled to secure the points in previous weeks.

Leon Cameron’s side are coming off a 20-point loss to the Brisbane Lions, which took place at Giants Stadium last weekend.

Stephen Coniglio had a solid game and continued his terrific season against the Lions, as the midfielder found the ball 34 times.

Harry Himmelberg booted four majors for his side. Toby Greene also kicked three, but the efforts of neither were able to get the Giants over the line.

In team news this week for the Giants, Josh Kelly (calf), Zac Langdon (ankle), Jeremy Finlayson (omitted) and Jackson Hately (omitted) all make way.

Bobby Hill, Daniel Lloyd, Matt Buntine and Lachie Whitfield are the inclusions. It will be Hill’s first game at the AFL level.

Prediction
The Tigers have found a bit of form in the last couple of weeks, and the Giants have lost a bit of form. With the game being at the ‘G, Richmond should claim another victory.

Richmond to prevail by 24 points.

You must be a politician. Talking your way around everything. You have stepped up to actually beat some top 8 sides now. Well done. Better than Collingwood last year. Contenders? Beat Collingwood and west coast, I will take notice.

Billybob where have you been. I thought you had been mugged at Jolimont station after the Geelong game. Good to see you back. Tigers are doing alright. See how you go against the contenders.

hang on. which 8? yesterday? the one at the end of the year? the one for every round - with Port in the 8 when we beat them. Freo were 5th when we beat them? who says the Giants are a top 8 side? bah

What invented logic. They either have beaten top 8 sides or they haven’t. Now they have. A step up. They still have to beat a contender. You will have a chance. This has nothing to do with Geelong. We all get sick of the gloating and optimistic projections presented as facts. No wonder everyone has a small smile when you are belted.

I'm not sold on Brisbane Peter, much like I wasn't sold on Melbourne last year.

and there our paths diverge a form of touch footy, in a rugby league region pretty when it works but so much effort for so little gain, ladder and medal wise almost an abnegation of the game and it's kick/mark origin. to me their strength is their weakness.

Lions surely in that cohort. wins in Sydney and Adelaide and comfortable in both in terms of top 4, Tigers have Pies, Lions and Eagles Lions have Tigers and Cats Eagles have Tigers and some tricky away games (Marvel form?) Pies have Giants and Tigers Whoever makes top 4 will have earned it, and will head into the finals with justified confidence. perhaps less so Geelong, unless they can navigate the "we're there already" run in better than Richmond did last year.

Giants are a bit like Port. Which side will show? Jekyll or Hyde? Both lose guns in Pendles and Coniglio. Brayden Maynard to reunite acquaintances with Toby Greene. Who does the Pies bargain recruit Jordan Roughead go to? Cameron? Crocker had a challenging game. Does he stay in? Most importantly, can the Pies take the sort of pressure footy that kept the premier scoreless for 45 minutes into their next game?

19 and sunny. last weekend of the hols. should be a bumper atmosphere, the delightful craziness of the Pies and the backs to the wall/Cameron out of the home team we'll be there again, getting Giants' grass miles into the legs of a few of the girls playing Paul Kelly cup finals there a couple of weeks later and having that rare enjoyment of elite footy as a neutral. at a great ground to watch.

of course in this invented "logic" the win over essendon doesn't count the away win over Port that has them outside the 8 doesn't count the fact that we haven't played the Lions or the Eagles matters not Richmond are not proven until you decide they are yawn - just making me wish it's ABG this year.

Perfectly sound comment, kind of worked out what you where trying to say. Sorry it makes you chuck a wobbly that I dare say Richmond won't win the premiership because atleast 3 sides are better than them.

Stupid comment! They're no better than the Tigers. Amy of those 4 can be the other 3 on their day!

My call that pies will be on top of them, still rings true. Still think they won’t do better than six.

My call of Tigers into the GF a few weeks back not looking so silly now.

It’s been one in one out all year for Pies. Adams and Howe will come in for Moore and Pendles. Scharenberg could come in too.
