The West Coast Eagles are suddenly back in form after a narrow loss last week, and will be out for their first victory since Round 4 against the travelling Essendon. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 8:40pm (AEST).
The Bombers head in off the back of a stirring victory over St Kilda, just their second of the season. With a new-look, aggressive game style, the red and black looked every inch the side that made a stunning run to the finals last season.
However, they head west without in-form half-back Andrew McGrath, while gun midfielder Darcy Parish will miss another week with a corked calf. However, important pair Will Snelling and Kyle Langford have been named in their stead for just their second games of the season.
The Eagles didn’t get the four points, but were almost as impressive in taking the fight right up to Geelong. With a number of big names back, Adam Simpson’s side looked genuinely competitive for the first time in weeks, and now appears well set to at least salvage some pride from the wreckage of a dismal 2022.
However, star backman Jeremy McGovern and midfielder Dom Sheed have been ruled out with injury, offsetting the returns of goalsneak Liam Ryan and gun mid Tim Kelly.

Eagles deserved to win. There, I've said it. Forced the Bombers wide, made their disposal sloppy and kicked to the best forward line we've had all year. Accuracy matters and precise field play. Rioli the three Brownlows

Not gutsy enough as a defender, not big enough to play mid, great in open going, maybe he just needs more fluency around him...

He’s a ripper Bird. From the first words he spoke as head coach, he is not only a teacher but a lifelong student. Has taken in everything from Leigh Matthews, Clarko… Dimma and co. Doesn’t guarantee ultimate success as the competition is tough but as a Pies fan you just feel before too long he will have us in a position to have a shot at it again.

You've finally got a quality coach and person in the box. Fly is finally making the most of an underrated list IMHO.

Yes, he’s everywhere the ball isn’t and a bit of a seagull in my opinion.

I think he's one of those players that is icing on the cake in a good team but he's not good enough to step in as a driver...a bit like Travis Colyer at Freo.

I was asking Don to explain how "Without WC money 5 Victorian clubs fold."?

It was a gutsy win by the Mighty Eagles last Night. A great team effort.

Could be used to sweeten a deal.

That was in response to Dons WC money put into the then VFL.

He's almost dead. Wouldn't care one way or another.

And yet many Pie fans say we should not have let Mick go.

Well said Don!

Petch needs trading. He has had more than enough opportunities, would rather give Clarke a go.

It was gag-worthy as soon as the Eagles were twenty points up... Bombers' credit they came back, but Bazzo' OOB was wrong and there were three or four red and black throws,
