The year’s second Western Derby sees Fremantle out to take at least some solace out of a wretched season with a second win over West Coast. Join The Roar for live scores from 8:10pm (AEST).
The Dockers have won their last four clashes with the Eagles, and having fallen from finals into the bottom four in a horror 2023, consecutive Derby wins would at least provide some comfort, even if the Eagles’ horror year mitigates that somewhat.
Venue: Optus Stadium, Perth

Did you read today’s West. This is a cluster again. Prior to 2018 they awarded joint winners. The WAFC said they changed the rules in 2018 to but the media release doesn’t mention it. The media release actually says the medal will now be known as the Glendinning-Allan medal and clearly states joint medals will continue to be awarded in the event of a tie. The paper goes on to say the medal now has retrospective winners from 1995 to 2000, joint winners from 2013 & 2018, Sampi & Gardiner as joint winners in 2003 because Glendinning stuffed up, and Schultz as a winner in 2023 with an * because he won on a countback. Absurd.

Allen definitely should be the next captain - has all the attributes of a long term leader.

It wouldn't be the first time. Or the second.

You've had a stalker all night Liam! Congrats on the win BTW.

Cheers for the kind words. There will be a shake-up - i would not be surprised if some/all Naitanui, Gaff, the coach and the chair will be out the door at the end of the season. The question is: who takes the helm? Our seniors will be Allen, Barrass, McGovern, Yeo, Cripps and Sheed. It will be another trying season but at least the young draftees will get plenty of exposure. The silver lining is at this rate I might get my membership in 2 years (no 9k+ on the waitlist)!

I'm not sure why you think I'm "strangely impacted" but ok.
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
Why would we do that? No one's trumpeting this win. You seem strangely impacted though. Surely you expected it with all your outs
Don Freo
Roar Rookie
Didn't struggle against Essendon last week. They have been improving. After the first 5 mins, Freo was very good.

Yet this all amounts to nothing. Nada. Zilch. :boxing: Che sera sera. That's Freo for ya.

Yeah look - that’s probably the issue, the recruitment has been poor and other older players have fallen off a cliff with injury - you’ll be the most inexperienced team next year and that will be a good thing - more games into the youngsters is the only way forward.

Of course it was Don. Well I look forward to watching the Freo victory parade down High St after another successful season for the club. Your boys deserve all the accolades they get.

As much as it sucks - coming from a Freo fan I’ve seen 2 WCE flags in my lifetime and no Freo ones - I’d happily be on the other end of this if it meant I’d seen a premiership 5 years ago. WCE, as much of a basket case as they currently are, are simply too big and powerful to be down for too long I suspect. Need some bold decisions this off season though - Nisbett is your biggest problem.

Roar Rookie
Yeah made no sense - just give both the medal.

Yep it’s been a poor year - I had top 4 to top 6 at the minimum expectations at the start of the year - they’ve got a hell of a lot wrong and I think at the end of the year there will still need to be a lot of discussions around leadership. Serong should be captain not Pearce. That aside though, it’s easy to forget that this Freo side is still the second youngest team in the comp, and was far less experienced than the team West Coast put on the park last night - that’s a fact. I think this has been a horribly disappointing year but hopefully we see a bounce next year a la Melbourne a few years ago. I wish West Coast all the best this off season - I may banter etc but it’s been hard to watch just how much misfortune has also happened - big changes needed I ssuspect.

Roar Rookie
Absolutely! A lot of positive signs - it’s just hard to know how much to read into as West Coast are struggling so much.

Heads won't roll. We the happy fat boy family club. Happy we get paid to much for Jack sheet. How low can we go? Rock bottom not been hit yet. Matti's in trouble
WCE
Roar Rookie
Once a power house now a crumpled heap on the rock bottom floor. how demoralising to all of us members and supporters for them to play like that. Its a dam disgrace. If heads don't roll from this they can shove my membership
