The Western Bulldogs will look to continue their perfect start to the season against a Brisbane Lions side looking for win number two. Stay up to date with their AFL clash with live scores on The Roar from 1:35pm (AEST).

It was a hard-fought opening fortnight for the Doggies, seeing off Collingwood by 16 points and the Eagles by seven, before they enjoyed a leisurely Good Friday against North Melbourne. The 128-point obliteration was a confidence-booster, but it’s back to business for Luke Beveridge’s men as they come up against a reigning preliminary finalist in a desperate situation.

Brisbane avoided an 0-3 start by the narrowest of margins after Zac Bailey’s goal after the siren got them over the line against Collingwood. But the Lions were still well below the form that’s taken them to two consecutive top four finishes and are in a tough spot now facing their third match away from home in a row. A 1-3 record wouldn’t be game over, but stealing a win today would be huge.

The Lions got up by 24 points in last year’s meeting, their second win in a row over the Bulldogs. However, the Dogs have won the last five games in a row between these sides in Victoria – including their only meeting in Ballarat in 2019.

I said before the season they seemed vulnerable, couldn't do it last year with a home ground advantage and a Brownlow medallist, can't see em getting up this year, I'd say they are the main contenders to slide out of last year's final eight

Finished with 29 disposals and 6 score involvements and will probably pick up another brownlow vote. He's playing like he's got a point to prove right now.

I've been going to Carrara since 1987. Last year I sat in the Southern Stand as a sunshower came at just the right time in the AFLW against Richmond to make the ball slippery and the margin too big for a comeback. The sky above the ground was blue, yet Carrara has its own weather system so this one cloud bank just pissed on us for a quarter so lightly that nobody even bothered to move to dryer seats. Blacktown has a horrid ground where the wind acts like a goalkeeper. One game in 2019, all set shots to one end were sprayed by the tunnel wind until Izak Rankine wizardry split the sticks from an impossible angle. There's bound to some VFL played there and you can see for yourself what a putrid ground it is for wind and traffic noise. Give me a green oval with 6ft high grassy banks and a clubhouse that sells hot pies (and decent coffee) with the weather coming in from all sides no matter what. The QAFL GF at South Brissy-Yeronga last year was perfect for that.

I loved the stadium at Ballarat when visited for the Suns vs Dogs game in 2018. It produced a lot of wayward goalkicking with random gusts making it difficult for set shots with the difference between the wind at ground level and post high quite significant. It reminded me of the 80s and 90s when commentators would spend a lot of time talking about windy conditions, only for cauldron stadiums and the soulless Docklands to make it far less of an advantage.
