Caroline Wilson suggested people will be disappointed at Tim Membrey and Seb Ross for leaving to be with their family rather than staying to help the struggling team stay alive for finals.
Really? I don't agree with her, but she's expressing an opinion. The idea that should have accreditation rescinded is absurd. At least it seems absurd to those of us who value a free press.
Caroline Wilson is coming from an all for the club mentality which is pretty rife. The only thing is that the club exists to enhance the individual. The individual does not exist for the betterment of the club. She's got it the wrong way around and she's not the only one. On occasion a club will have to lift on the field to support an individual. St Kilda could have used it as inspiration to lift and maybe they did. The Win/Loss doesn't really tell us much of a story. More and more blogs and social media are doing the job of the media. I tend to go more to comments more than editorials if I want interesting viewpoints. Authoritative experts like Wilson have to appear certain about things but they are kind of fumbling around in the said cesspool.
How does she keep her AFL media accreditation after this?
Players are accountable for what they say but the media is not.
This is a low point in the season and wholly the responsibility of one person.
Players families, especially children, are off limits, end of story. To speculate about their health in the media is disgraceful, who the hell does this woman think she is? She may as well head over to the UK and get a job for the tabloids, it probably pays better.
So glad someone finally called her out, she comes across as a cold, calculating sociopath severely lacking in empathy. Treats and and talks about players as if they're emotionless robots like herself. Shut it up Caro, you have no right to speak on their behalf!
No outsider has the right to criticize a person for putting their family first, particularly over a sporting team. I understand that football is teir job and they are well paid, but every worker is entitled to sick leave and compassionate leave. Caroloine Wilson should try walking in their shoes, and her comments about the twins not being "ill" or having "problems" is totally uncalled for - might want to stay clear of the families I think.
The AFL media is a cesspool of ppl saying controversial things to stay relevant, no different to a minor celeb leaking nudes of themselves. Whately, Caro, Roco, Watson, Carey, Eddie, purple, Morris, Browne etc etc all do it and it is sad they wrap it up as somehow being relevant, shock editorials is gutter journalism that in this tabloid world is the norm unfortunately. Junk time or front bar gives a more realistic view of how punters actually feel not the I can type 5000 words of nothing set from usually a Sen, Fairfax or news lmtd employ.
