He didn't intentionally strike him. It was a reflex action due to Worpel feinting at him like he was gonna do something. To think that Soldo was running and thinking "yep, i'm gonna give this guy a clip" is just dumb. Hence why every media/player personality (except Whately cause he's a Geelong knooob) thought that the decision was a joke, which it is!
Those in charge at the AFL are clearly high on Dank’s gear. The decisions coming out of that place are out-and-out crazy. How can we best make our feelings known in a concerted manner, preferably shaming the AFL in the process?
wrong, he gave away the free, he was put into a push and shove, he went back to guard the line, they called him to the bench, from that position he had to run where he ran. Hawthorn were at him the whole time. Worpel and his mate sledged and moved towards him. he braced for contact additional to that that had already been inflicted on him.
worpel got a tiny glance to his head after Soldo's much higher arm bounced off his head. and went down like a sack of spuds.
this is intentional but Ablett's isn't?
FMD> worst decision I have seen.
we will still beat the Bombers tho
I can understand why Ablett got off both times, but I could not see why Fyfe got off. After watching this I have even more trouble with how Fyfe got off.
If Worpel doesn’t pick up the nick name “autumn leaves” or “avalanche” after this then something is also wrong.
lol cat you have to be joking ablett was trying to Shepard he jumped off the ground and raised his elbow and got of 2 weeks in a row absolute joke im not a richmond fan but if some one can get of 2 weeks running for an elbow to some ones head then something isnt right , whether it was sloppy or not he should have went atleast 1 week if not 2
It was after a goal, he's jogging back for the bounce. Worple thought he add a little mayo as Soldo gave away the free kick that lead to the goal, Worple goes to bump him and Soldo tries to bumper bar in defence. Didn't need to run in that direction, what is supposed to run around the boundary line to the centre?
Not really. The MRO was right with this and the Mathieson one - both in stop play situations and whacking people for no reason (definitely can't claim not intentional). These sorts of acts need to be punished.
And based on recent weeks - I was far more concerned about Ablett last week on Sam Wright - because it wasn't a 'reflex' action in play - the ball had been passed forward and Ablett was pretty well in control of his actions......that was far more intentional than careless and sat Wright on the ground. No idea why the MRO didn't pursue that one.
Note how the MRO found reasons to let Luke Parker off. Sometimes he seems to find reasons to ping other people...if it were Jack Ziebell then he would've gone for sure.
Lunged at him? Wow you really are seeing what you want to see. Clearly braced himself because he could see the big man lining him up – as would any smart player.
Did he intentional strike him? Yes. There is no other reason when play is stopped to do what he did.
Did he get him high? Yes. Whether he meant to go lower or started lower is irrelevant. Just like when you lay a tackle, you don't get bonus points for starting low. If it ends up high, it is high. Full stop.
Force you may be right about. I've only seen this short clip that shows nothing after the fact. I've seen no medical report nor heard if trainers actually came out nor if he missed any time. Force is the only argument Soldo can mount.
But then just a couple years ago Fyfe was ruled out and everyone was saying he was hard done by. Dangerfield got rubbed out too. So much for the 'superstars get off' theory.

It as funny as pretending this was not part of play

You've just described the Fyfe hit from the week before...except his was in play. Ivan was off the ball...by a very long way.

How about Mason Cox on Grimes? There is no justifying this nonsense.

It was as the ump was setting the mark for a Hawthorn shot on goal. You must be talking about another incident.

Should have been a 50 metre penalty too.

The play was not near them. Soldo did not need to head in that direction.
