Australia will hope to avoid a clean sweep as they take on India in the third and final T20I at the SCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:10pm (AEDT).
After a rousing 2-1 ODI series win, Australia have been lethargic in the T20 series so far. The first match saw them restrict the visitors to a modest total of 161 in the first innings, but a sluggish run chase saw them fall 11 short.
Then, in the second match, they were unable to defend their total of 194, losing by six wickets with two balls to spare – albeit in controversial circumstances.
First ball: 7:10pm (AEDT)
Venue: Sydney Cricket Ground

Odds: Australia $1.85, India $1.95

The main thing they need to be is unpredictable. At least Tye can mix them up. Full wide balls, knuckle slower balls, fast short balls. The batsman isn't sure what's coming so they can't set themselves to smash him into the stands. Abbott and Sams served up balls that were too easy to hit. Neither one thing or another. Not wide enough, not short enough - just half tracker hit me type stuff. I thought Zampa bowled a great over near the death. Gutsy stuff from Finch to give him a go. The wicket of Pandya he took decided the match. Followed it with a nice wrong'un to the left hander. He should have bowled the 20th over as well.

Well the short form stuff is now out of the way. Attention now turns to the substantive matters at hand...

One over & Tye was fun? Lol. I have no problem with Sams as long as he is considered pinch hitter & 7th bowling option. You will need someone like smith or lazania to hold the innings together. Australia tried "all hitters" approach & were bowled out for under 100 regularly. But saying that i agree smith needs to up his game a notch to even play that "glue" part.

A good over & Tye was fine? Lol. I have no problem with sams as long as he is considered 7th bowling option. You will need someone like smith or lazania to hold the innings together. You need to keep in mind next WC is in india .Australia tried "all hitters" approach & go all out below 100 regularly. But i agree smith needs to up his game a notch in t20 for even to play the "glue" part.

To me it seems Australia doesn't have any plan for death bowling. I don't know what the bowling coach is doing. Length, short and quick bowling isn't going to win Australia many matches. Short bowling is ineffective these days because even the mishits go over the boundary owing to the big thick bats. Yorkers and off paced deliveries are the way to go. Australia quickly needs to devise a plan for death bowling before 2021 t20 world cup in India.

He doesn't have the temperament to succeed at international level. Tye is pretty close too in that regard. Honestly, I thought Abbott would concede 27 in that last over after the way he started and his track record to choke and leak runs.

Good to see the crowd get us home tonight!

At least Tye thinks about what he's doing - not sure about the other two. Fantastic 18th over by Zampa that sealed the match. Finch showed stones by giving him a bowl, Pity he didn't bowl the 20th.

Tye was fine - couldn't have asked for much more from him. Abbott was awful. Sams is still learning - but jeez he is athletic for a big man - the catch he took to dismiss Kohli was magnificent. I think Smith's time as a T2o international is over - he's fantastic at Test and ODI level - but he is far too limited as a T2o player - bit like Michael Clarke used to be. He just doesn't have the power to be successful. I'd like to see Chris Lynn given another crack.

Surely that should be end of experiment with Tye & Abbott. Sams is a 6th bowler, using him at opening & death is laughable.

Does that put Tye into the middle class? Or is it working class?

Being an underdog fan and always behind the weaker team, but this time I stopped rooting for Australia even before the t20 series commenced because if Aussie selectors are hell bent on shooting their own feet again and again, why should I suffer?

I think tonight has showed Tye is a class above Sams and Abbott.

When will people stop talking about Wade as a wicket keeper?
