Can Australia whitewash the series 3-0 or will South Africa salvage something from a disappointing tour? Follow all the action of the third Test between at the Sydney Cricket Ground here on The Roar from 10:30am (AEDT).
Australia have played flawless cricket this summer against both the West Indies and South Africa and will be looking to continue that winning form ahead of tours to India and England.
Overall, it has been a difficult tour for the Proteas. They’ve never looked settled and have found it hard to make any impact in either Test match. In Melbourne it seemed like they didn’t mentally apply themselves to the task at hand. They will need to do that if they’re to avoid a series whitewash – their first in Australia since 2001.
Australia will be forced into making two changes, with Mitchell Starc and Cameron Green both out injured. It’s a shame for them as they have both been performing well. The positive is it provides opportunities for others.
Ashton Agar and Matt Renshaw were both added into the Australian squad last week, with Agar set to fill the spot of Green as a spin bowler and all-rounder. Fast bowler Lance Morris could make his Test debut in place of Starc.
The next selection dilemma facing Australia is whether to stick with Scott Boland or pick Josh Hazlewood. I feel if Hazlewood is fit, you pick him, otherwise Boland has shown he’s more than capable at this level.
South Africa is set to make one change, with Theunis de Bruyn having returned home to see the birth of his first child. Rassie van der Dussen, who went out for de Bruyn in Melbourne, might come straight back in; but the Proteas might try something different altogether and bring in aggressive batter and back-up wicketkeeper Henrich Klaasen.
Whoever they decide on they will need to commit fully to the task. South Africa should aim to bat a whole day. Thus far in the series, once they’ve lost one wicket, they seem to collapse.
Prediction
Australia is on top of their game, so I can’t see any other result than a home side win; unless, Sydney rain comes once again, in which case it might be a draw.

And I am absolutely certain you didn't read it. The reasons for that are obvious. Good try to sound serious, though.

I’ve read the report submitted with his version. It didn’t implicate any bowlers at all, from NSW or otherwise. Not sure how else to explain that to you. And I’m reasonably sure the bookies didn’t put up a market on a disciplinary inquiry.

Ana de Armas what a babe!

My brain broke thinking about that. Well a short term engagement would be great but definitely not a long term one. C'mon, you made me have a deep and undivided interest in Ana de Armas. An excellent example of a Taurus. They manytimes have big brown eyes like a Toro.

I’ll have to look up Rhona Mitra. Ah, you like Leo women. Both Mitra and Beckinsale are.

Agree Pierro the captain is a bloody menace & is completely out of his depth. Bowlers should never captain a team & this reeks of choosing a mate with no form or match fitness & selecting spinners with little influence at this ground & all for the resemblance of what’s to come in India. Gee wiz has he gone mad.

Leave it out will ya? Zooey is cute for sure and I could mistake her for Katie Perry sometimes, but Hoffs has been consistenly outstanding across four decades. Kate Beckinsale and Rhona Mitra make up a top 3 for the ages Deschamel doesn't even make the starting XI

Lyons average is 40 at scg his worst Aussie ground . If it spins he will naturally get wickets but so would have swepson. Aus is certainly bowling short perhaps agar can impress but I think another paceman was the go . don’t discount Cummins and Hazelwood although I agree it’s not there best series . I wonder if captaincy will hurt cummins bowling . Australia has had some neutral or bad tests at scg though it’s a mixed ground for them against decent sides touring at times . as norje is theatening I’m wondering if Morris should have played for the pace and variation

Cummins isn’t in great form & Hazlewood is not match hardened & can’t be trusted to get 5 wickets over 2 innings . We are relying on Lyon to get the majority. Agar will be lucky to get 2 wickets, that leaves the part timers like Smith & Lab & Head to rack up 1 wicket a piece. Terrible decision by our selectors & Cummins. We will bat all day tomorrow which leaves the bowling unit 3 days to get 20 wickets.

Cummins and Hazelwood can take teams apart ..Adelaide and uk for low scores bit this is going to spin ..I think they missed a beat with not selecting Morris as norte has been lethal.and he provides starc like variation and was a chance to debut a talented youngster . head smith labs can all spin it quite well.. I would have selected renshaw to replace warner as opener in a perfect world but that narrative is still on auto pilot and warners flex over McDonald and bailey. hence was probably best to wait with renshaw if he’s a number 6 slot which is not the ambition with him coming up unless they let khwaja open with labs which he does so often anyway

No way. Zooey is incredibly cute and she has such a sweet voice.

Pfftt. The term hotness should be remamed hoffness. In cricket terms, Hoffs is Don Bradman. Deschanel is Bob Quiney.

Linda was definitely good but She's a Cancer, which is the same as me, so it's bit of an astrological in-sest scenario. Sagittarius Ascendant= those legs.
