Australia takes on Sri Lanka at the Sydney Cricket Ground in the first of five Twenty20 internationals. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:10pm AEDT.
The Australian short-form summer was significantly cut back when New Zealand were forced to pull out of their series with COVID quarantine requirements in their country.
Cricket Australia will be happy just to have some international cricket to try and move on from the events of the past week and the fallout from Justin Langer’s departure as head coach.
Langer, of course, took the Australian team to T20 World Cup glory and the Australians will be out to prove why they’re the best in the world.
It will be interesting to see how Test match captain Pat Cummins is treated by the Sydney crowd with a mixed reaction to how he dealt with the Langer issue. He’ll no doubt relish taking a back seat for this one with T20 captain Aaron Finch in charge.
Wicket-keeper batsman Josh Inglis has been listed to make his debut for Australia.

There will be a prevailing sense of calmness to the proceedings.

80% of the Australian cricket public would not tolerate Warner as captain - irrespective of the ban.

Peoples from New Holland vs New South Wales? Funerals are not the time for a clash of cultures.

And the pall bearers will be….. Cummins, Lyon, Warner, Smith, Finch and McDonald. RIP

Yes, it was the break between innings, but nonetheless more relevant than the excrement that was on display at the SCG tonight,

I'm not sure a "jobbie" is the go on a dead man. Necrophilia! Ewww!

A State Funeral will be held at Saint Mary’s Cathedral in East Perth, with a date to be announced in the next two weeks. – JL Remembrance Day will replace the Queen’s Birthday Holiday on the last Monday of each September, but extended to be a 3 day period of official mourning. – Secession – WAXIT – will be implemented by 30 June 2023.

Any funeral date announced for JL's coaching role, Don? It's a pretty serious event, presumably a state jobbie somewhere official

I expect we can continue to see Jhye Richardson, Agar and Marsh/Inglis in the hiviz jackets. Glad there’s no Shield game for the WA boys.

Geez Inglis looks like Timmy Zoehrer. I wonder if he bowls leg spin too.

Did a quick check. The last time was Bangladesh in July, so 10 matches (8 wins) ago.

Happier with Hazlewood now?

Wouldn't be the first time his cricket has embarrassed him.

When was the last time we win a T20 where we didn’t win the toss?
