The series is on the line when India host Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the third and final ODI. Join The Roar for all the action with live scores and a blog from 7pm (AEDT).

On Friday, India bounced back from an uncharacteristically poor performance with a 36-run victory over Australia.

Batting first, the hosts put 340 runs on the board. Shikhar Dhawan made 96, Lokesh Rahul added 80 to the tally before being run out, while captain Virat Kohli also scored a half-century and finished with 78.

Adam Zampa took three wickets and Kane Richardson finished with two.

Requiring almost seven an over from the word go, Australia were slow going to begin with. David Warner fell early for 15 and Aaron Finch could only contribute 33.

The top-order wickets fell around Steve Smith’s 98-run effort. Ashton Agar (25) and Richardson (24) held on for a while, though the run rate had well and truly moved beyond Australia’s reach.

Every bowler took wickets for India in the second innings; Mohammed Shami was best with three scalps.

Lokesh Rahul was named player of the match for his 80 runs from just 52 deliveries.

While the side looks fairly set at the moment, should Australia make any changes in an attempt to steal the series?

The only likely option is a change to the bowling attack, such as a swap of fast bowlers or a replacement for Ashton Agar (who only took one wicket in the first ODI).

Prediction
A blockbuster awaits us this evening. Both sides are in run-scoring form and will be on the attack to claim a series victory.

Back in their groove, India should get the job done in front of their fans.

India to win.

Can Australia outplay India like they did on Tuesday and continue an impressive summer of cricket?

But a some of the team touring group were second stringers who were sent on tour to prove themselves. Turner and Agar are not first string players. Even with Zampa and Cary they were going on youth and future potential rather than safe, proven players.

Maybe we can ask Langer. He didn't bother going but players are not machines. CA have the mindset win at all cost so the second stringers don't get a go. It's been going on for years

Cummins had a bad day. But Starc is habitual offender. He leaks runs at an alarming rate against attacking openers/batsmen in ODIs.

Cummins didn't bowl bad balls. Today was not his day. But Starc frequently bowls loose deliveries and is not trustworthy against attacking batsmen.

I want Starc to be the best. But his performances in last 5 ODIs is ordinary. He leaks runs at an alarming rate against attacking batting line up.

Do you know where the next WC is? While Jhyle is a genuine contender and had done very well the last series played in India - quite a few you named weren't considered to be Intl quality. It isn't the overload that can be blamed for their poor figures, more of good batting.

Almost as bad as Kholi in a tournament finals. No, Starc's poor numbers are much better.

No test players should of went. They should of stayed at home and made the BBL more interesting.

I don’t understand why Starc and Cummins were selected for this series, they’ve just played 5 tests, this was a good opportunity to let them put their feet up for a month and try some other bowler, there’s plenty of options J.Richardson, Sams, Kelly, Paris, Boland, Tremain, Ellis

The player of the match is Rohit Sharma. Sponsors awards: Dream 11 game changer of the match is Ravindra Jadeja, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are also presented with the Atoot Jodi cheque for their contributions with the bat. The player of the series is Virat Kohli.

I am very much serious. Whatever he did in wc is well in past. I would say today's loss was 80% on starc & cummins. While cummins can claim of having an off day, starc was rank bad, not just in this match. He was leaking runs from ball 1,applying no pressure. Today's score was very much on par. But their opening spell gave it away. Spinners went for 4 an over shows you ho bad they were.

But in crunch games against England, South Africa and in semifinal and against India, he was belted all around the park. Again in this series, two times he was belted all around the park. This is not an exception now.

Thanks for joining me this evening on The Roar. It was great to have your input throughout the match and I look forward to the next international games to be played in South Africa. For now though, the summer of sport continues with BBL tomorrow evening. The Roar will also have coverage of Australian matches throughout the Open from Melbourne Park, which begins tomorrow.

Are u serious, Starc was the highest wicket taker in World Cup. Check his career wicket taking average and strike rate. I believe the Aus fast bowlers were really tired post summer test series. But Aus spinners bowled really well. Also not to forget, India is also a great ODI side and were the world Cup favourites along with Eng. Starc also got the hammering against Ind in Wcup 19 going 74+, but was still the best bowler of the tournament. Only problem is,on his wicketless day, he leaks a lot of runs. I still believe Maxwell and Stoinis or mitchell marsh should be in the squad for late power hitting , Aus missed the trick. Also since the next ODI wcup is in india, Khwaja should be selected in the squad as he was one of the pioneer of last ODI series win.

Whether the total Australia set was a little below par or the bowling incredibly poor, either way India played the clinical series-winning game you'd expect of them on home soil. Steve Smith top scored for Australia with 131 runs, before heaving one short, caught in the deep by Shreyas Iyer. Marnus Labuschagne made another 50, but was caught on 54. Alex Carey chipped in with a 35-run innings. All other batsmen for Australia were outscored by the 'extras', of which there were 27 thanks to some early wayward Indian bowling. While Smith top-scored, he also managed to run his captain out, almost run out Labuschagne and others with indecisive calling and hesitant running between wickets. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were brilliant with the ball for India, asking questions of the Australians early and then taking wickets at the death. Kuldeep Yadav was again difficult for players to pick, though his spin only managed one wicket. Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets, as India restricted Australia to less than 300 runs. With 287 the target, India got off to a brilliant start. Without usual opener Shikhar Dhawan due to a shoulder injury suffered in the field, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma put together a strong partnership. Rohit went on to make 119 runs, before he was caught in the deep by Mitchell Starc. Virat Kohli (89 runs) paired well with the opener, after Rahul fell for 19. Shreyas Iyer finished 44 not-out, though Manish Pandey scored the winning runs. Australia's opening bowling attack was smacked all over the park. Starc was taken off after two overs, while Pat Cummins lasted just a few overs longer. The pair looked quite tired and were bowling poor lines on this pitch. Ashton Agar got the breakthrough wicket, thanks to an overturned LBW decision. He bowled well in partnership with Adam Zampa to push the run rate out a little. Australia's inability to take regular wickets was a huge problem, while the fast bowlers were punished. Agar, Hazlewood and Zampa took a wicket each, but could not slow down India enough - they made the runs with 15 balls and seven wickets to spare. A brilliant victory for India to claim the series 2-1, which has been a great fightback after their uncharacteristic performance on Tuesday evening. AUS 9/286 IND 3/289

In last five ODIs that Australia have played, this man Starc has gone for an average of 8 runs per over that too with the new ball. This is unacceptable from an international level bowler.

Please stop giving new ball to Starc whether in tests or in odis. The filth he bowls with new ball makes him look like a club bowler trying to bowl fast.
