Remember the name Mitchell Perry.
The 20-year old Victorian quick was on fire on the morning of Day 1 of the Sheffield Shield resumption against NSW, giving no less a batsman than Steve Smith a masterful working over.
Ball after ball was directed in the dangerous channel just outside off stump, and finally, Perry’s patience paid off, Smith feathering an edge through to wicketkeeper Seb Gotch for just 7.
A wicket to tell the grandkids about without a doubt.

And the first over from Starc this morning gone for 10; 4 overs for 34. He is NOT a new ball bowler. He may once have been - - he isn't currently. Hazlewood trying to build pressure at one end and Starc just blows it at the other.

Didn't notice the bowling, too busy looking at Smith carrying on like an idiot leaving balls.

Yeah really well said John. I loved the look of young Perry, particularly as the heart of the Australian bowling line up followed him up at the close of the NSW innings,; and looked as handy as tits on a bull. Admittedly NSW was sans Cummins, but they looked shocking. Starc went at 8 an over. More disturbingly Hazelwood went at 4 an over and looked real ordinary; this was on a pitch that’s offering a bit. Probably a good thing the South African tour was cancelled. India highlighted issues that the selectors chose to ignore. Fool them.

Let's hope so, God knows, we need some bowlers.

In BBL, bowlers don’t get the opportunity to “work batsmen over” & are basically cannon fodder. Now that the 20/20 circus has folded the tent & left town, we have a resumption in the Sheffield Shield & players have the opportunity to show their wares. Both Mitchell Perry & Caleb Jewell performed well today in their respective matches & could be players to watch for the future.

Certainly is.

Yeah I always though "working over" was being peppered by short stuff.

Wow, there’s a lot to like there.

Pity his test counterparts didn't get the memo to pitch it up a little instead of the half track nonsense they were throwing down most of the Indian series.

Hardly a working over. But got him
