Imagine Bancroft's FC average as an opener if he played at the Gabba on a regular basis. His second Innings dismissal getting bowled between the gate off an inside edge is also a result of a shocking technique.
Well in the second innings he played on after chasing a wide one with a major gap between bat and pad. I'd like to see him do well, mainly because at times he has shown the ability to hang tough but he needs to sort these issues out.
That just how people operate on keyboards. However a batsman gets out, it is a "technique" problem.
As Bancroft says, "they can keep trying, I keep trying to hit them". That's a debatable choice rather than a "technique" issue.
I'm quite happy with Bancroft's ability to score runs. It's only when he gets out that folk think there's an issue. Out of all his innings, he has only got out that way 3 times. He has got so many runs through that area.
I think he'd struggle to get a consistent shot at keeping for WA, considering they've got the likes of Whiteman, Inglis and Philippe already ahead of him. Wouldn't be a bad idea though, as you've said because of his consistency in the middle order.
He bats in the middle order in limited overs cricket and is far more consistent there. Bancroft just doesn’t have the technique for opening at test level. He’s still very young. Nows the time to make the move to the middle order. And he should consider taking up the keeping again full time.

Was going to say...sadly not just one technical flaw that bowlers are on top of

And we all thought it was the gap between bat and pad which was going to cause him trouble!

I have never seen a player exposed in such a fashion before. It is a mind blowing that he can continue to get out this way.
