Self-respect...that's a good reason.

So if it hurts you, don't do it to others. If you are young, you still have time to change.

And you think that an embittered, playground taunt, calling names and denigrating another person is a better example of maturity and character? Mick, do you have a mirror? What does any of that twisted hatred have to do with Clarke's cricket ability?

Singles kayaks would have been a better choice for him rather than any team sports, or self admiration mirror gazing; he demonstrated his appalling leadership abilities best with his stellar efforts managing Our Lara; then rounded off his career by, hilariously, standing tall at 5 foot 4 inches and threatening to break opponents' arms! :stoked: He didn't have many idol worshippers in the dressing shed either. Nought but a mincing poodle.

Ashes is still 8 weeks . Pucovski should get scans in a few weeks before this talk all sets in Head is hitting big but he’s flashy . Warner and head flashing outside off to open are both similar . No thanks . Khawaja could be fine on Aussie wickets but perhaps an opportunity to look to future and aubcontinent tours next year . A few other candidates. Alot of the side already chosen . Head should start at 5 given his form . Forget wade . Labs smith Green and potentially head now seem a lock if head can keep replicating in shield. See today . Paine is well a selectors CA darling so he is in as captain , as is warner who is ambiguous at his age but will start until they realise they need to look at others next year for sub continent tours or until it costs us again . Doesn’t leave many selections if pucovski recovers. Not my ideal team but selectors are stubborn . Whiteman may be interesting if he can hold form to open ? Someone suggested street? Be interesting to see if the Tassie kid Tim ward can repeat his first shield game performance opening well next few shield games.

Social media comments about technique are amusing. Head's technique is fine. When people say technique, their evidence always seems to suggest they are actually talking about shot selection and then they are only ever referring to the ball that got them out.

One of the worst ever Australian cricketers, not worth wasting valuable time giving him a hearing.

Head barely has the technique to be a test number 5 - might as well bring in Mitch Marsh to open! I'm not totally against Khawaja but I think we should be looking forward and not back. Someone mentioned Bryce Street - he's not quite 24, has a FC average in the 40's and currently opens for his state. He is the type of batsman who will be 20 not out at lunch, then maybe 60 not out at tea. Not very exciting but you can build the team around him. To be honest, I haven't seen much vision of him but surely his technique and temperament is better then Marcus Harris (who is averaging 24 in test cricket and below 40 in FC)? If and when Pucovski is fit, he could challenge Head for the number 5 spot.

Puppy clarke trying to stay relevant. Head as an opener?! Oh pah-lease! However, Wade and Warner has also been flagged as an opening combo. If this is the best we have in Aus in the way of openers, lets just cancel the Ashes now!

Nah. Head should have opened last year. He would be captain by now. Khawaja… pffft…
