The strangest hit wicket dismissal in professional cricket history

By The Roar / Editor

Making sure your shoes are firmly tied up is always a good idea, but who knew it could cost you your wicket in cricket?

Bangladeshi tailender Taijul Islam had toiled away with the bat for 49 balls when he was forced onto the back foot by Sri Lankan bowler Suranga Lakmal.

Islam calmly defended the ball towards cover but in the process his back foot dragged along the ground and his boot slipped off and hit the stumps.

The wicket ended Bangladesh’s first innings as Sri Lanka took a big lead in the 2nd Test.

No found that one https://www.crictracker.com/watch-geoff-lawson-getting-hit-wicket-twice-wasnt-given/. This was way weirder the foot was well onto the stumps and bent them over heaps and they sprang back . It was maybe late 80's.

Was Geoff Lawson the batsman in question? The day he got away with stepping on his stumps twice in Brisbane in consecutive overs from one particular end in 1984-85?

There was a much stranger one of the same sort , I remember seeing a batsman actually bend the stumps backwards by stepping on them and they bounced back while setting off for a run. I think Benaud was commentator at the time. I think they got away with it as well it was before video reviews.

I must admit, that is crazy. Never seen that happen to a batter before. Helmet being knocked off yes, but never shoes.
