The Canterbury Bulldogs once again play the final game of the NRL round, this time against the inconsistent Wests Tigers. Join The Roar for live scores from 6:30pm (AEST).

It’s been a tough year for the Bulldogs, even by 2020’s standards. They’ve had a damaging pre-season scandal, a COVID-19 scare and that’s before we even get to their 1-5 record after six rounds this season.

There was some hope coming into the year that Canterbury would build on the rugged defence they displayed at the back end of last year, but having conceded more than 20 points per game, they haven’t exactly been watertight. Couple that with an impotent attack – only the Titans scored fewer points through Rounds 1-6 – and there’s no surprise they’re stuck in the bottom two.

Meanwhile, Tigers fans don’t know what to expect week in, week out – or even from one half to another. Wests were up 34-0 at halftime last week before losing the second half 20-2 in what epitomises the frustration that no doubt comes with supporting this side.

Unfortunately for Michael Mcguire’s men, they’ll be without Robert Jennings, Zane Musgrove and Alex Twal today, all of whom have been ruled out with injury. They’ve been replaced by Tommy Talau, Oliver Clark and Matt Eisenhuth respectively.

Meanwhile, Christian Crichton is suspended for the Bulldogs, and Nick Meaney and Aiden Tolman could both come into the side after being named in the reserves.

Yes, I am a Dogs fan, but I am wondering just what coaches and all the extra staff get paid for? Would be lovely if we could at least defend.

Great rhythm by Wests. The Dogs : they should be given a trophy for showing up each week. If this was boxing, they wouldn't let them fight. They are out of 1st grade class this year. It is what it is.

I didn't know that was Willie Talau's boy. No wonder he's big.

Hey Crispy, Wakeham or Lewis?? Who's your pick? You'd be loving the game if - like gridiron - you could have a defensive team and attacking team..
