The NRL continues this afternoon with the traditional clash between the Sea Eagles and Knights coming to you from Lottoland in Sydney. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match starting from 4.05pm (AEST).

The rivalry between these two sides run deep, with the iconic face-off between Mark Carroll and Paul Harragon still remembered by every fan. However, this match takes on extra importance this weekend, with both teams desperate to avoid back to back losses.

The Sea Eagles have endured a tough schedule over the last month and, with Tom Trbojevic on the sidelines, it showed last weekend against the Sharks.

Des Hasler’s side prides itself on its defence but they were out-enthused by Cronulla.

Moses Suli will be a welcome boost to the backline, replacing Brendan Elliot. Marty Taupau has been named to start, but it wouldn’t surprise to see Sean Keppie again start in his place.

Adam O’Brien didn’t mince words after the Knights loss to the Cowboys last weekend, accusing his team of complacency.

This showed on the scoreboard, with the Knights down 26-0 at half-time. They did threaten a second-half comeback, but the damage was done.

In team changes, Bradman Best returns from his week of quarantine, in place of Gehamat Shibasaki. Herman Ese’ese will start at lock with Tim Glasby out after failing a head impact assessment last weekend.

Prediction
Tom Trbojevic’s injury is of course a major blow to the Sea Eagles and their win-loss record without him on the field is depressing reading for Manly fans.

You need to counter that though with their outstanding recent record against the Knights and a return to their spiritual home at Lottoland.

We saw Manly’s ability to grind out a win over the Raiders a fortnight ago. I think we will see that again this weekend.

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles by four.

The ref did everything he could do to try and get manly home. I think your getting confused between the ref and the bunker. Remember the ref sent that last play up as a possible penalty try. Not to mention constant six again calls.

Are you suggesting that the match was fixed?

There was never going to be a penalty shot, with the danger the game might go to golden point. Ch9 have their News at 6pm, so, there just wasn't time for more footy. That's how it goes these days.

Hard to believe that there are those who are so juiced up with Manly hate they’re saying that Manly had the referee on their side helping them.. I’d hate to see a game where he was on the other side!

Maybe because it was a try scoring decision or can it only be used in general play.

I couldn’t believe the brain fade at marker after that for Sironen he needed to make it up and instead he clocked off, !!

They didn't pack a lock and a second rower picked up the ball. Penalty. You couldn't do it in Old Bill's day and you can't do it now.

When was the last time he reffed out in the middle?

Well I respect them Rob but like is a bridge too far. I tipped the Knights so I was hoping they'd get up. I just get annoyed when refs start supporting the home team to get them home. Happens too often for my liking.

I think DCE is then asking the guy who gave the original decision to overturn his decision so unless there is a third party to over rule the bunker there is a flaw in the captain’s challenge right there.

Just an added point on the last play controversy.-could not DCE issue a captains challenge (CC)on the Bunker decision which was an obvious clanger,I thought the CC was brought in to cover those.

He was pushed by one Knights player then totally taken out by a second. Not a penalty try but penalty and based on the first half, a sin bin.

Why do fans of the game complain when refs follow a basic rule. What’s your alternate idea, just let players hang around wherever they want, ignore the rules? People blow up then when a call is missed that impacts their team. I don’t understand this about many NRL fans, the problem they have with the black and white rules being applied.

And poor old Badge still running the sideline. They need to rotate some of these guys.

Disappointed. Newcastle did well to hang on. DCE not at his best when we needed him to be. Fonua Blake will deservedly get a fine for some uncalled for lip after full time. Might even get a couple of weeks off, who knows. Manly just upset because they let themselves down at important times. No need to abuse the officials this is not soccer.

Fair point but it appears Fonua-Blake was sent.
