The North Queensland Cowboys are hoping for a dignified end to their home-and-away season against the raging Penrith Panthers at QCB Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 6pm (AEST).
It’s been a season to forget for the Cowboys in 2020 and it simply can’t end soon enough. In a year they were supposed to return to the top eight, they instead find themselves entrenched in the bottom four with just four wins to their name. They did, however, snap their nine-game losing streak two weeks ago with a one-point win over the Dragons.
It’s a totally different story for the Penrith Panthers, who still sit atop the NRL ladder after racking up their 13th consecutive win with 20-2 demolition of arch-rivals Parramatta last week. They’ve lost just once all season and will hope to use tonight as a tune-up before the crunch of finals time.
The Panthers knocked off North Queensland 22-10 when they met in Round 10 earlier this year, although the Cowboys had triumphed in the previous two meetings. Penrith have lost on six of their last seven visits to Townsville.
Kick-off: 6pm (AEST)
Venue: QCB Stadium, Townsville
TV: Fox Sports
Live stream: Kayo Sports, Foxtel, NRL Live Pass

What Kikau was reported for happens half a dozen times per NRL game, usually each time the ref saying “get up and play it you milker”.

I had a rant at half time. The Cowboys have been missing the jump for many years. They come out at half asleep. It’s not just this year but it goes way back. We were known as the comeback kings when Thurston was running around with Bowen. First set drop a ball. Ordinary pass with half ass attempt at catching it. Feldt kick it out on the full. Did that first kick of the season. Kick into goal post from point blank. Won the second half but butchered any chance with comical forward passes? Drop the ball at dummy half, drop the ball after being tackled? It’s being switched on. It’s mental not talent or ability. It’s like watching Maxwell bat or Johnson bowl. We need Mcgarth mentality. Sorry I’m waiting for the cricket to start now.

Better effort from the Cowboys in part two. Down 20-0 at halftime and drew the second half shows they have got some grunt. Penrith are worthy minor premiers, congratulations to them. I only wish it was Saints, but, maybe next year.

It’s been a long time since anyone can reasonably say, ‘ Penrith are going alright this year’, but they are.

That run back typifies him at the moment. He has you shouting oh my god at the start and the end but with very different meanings.

I don't understand who's playing where with the Panthers. Luai, Crichton, Cleary and May are swinging both sides. Crichton is playing FB defensively is the only structure.

I know it doesn’t make a difference to the overall result but Mansour flopped onto a player who was tackled and held on the ground and I’ve seen that penalised so many times, so why not this time?

Playing with JT wasn’t good for his edge.

You’re kidding so Kyle Feldt didn’t knock it out of Gagai’s hand?

Really.... I thought that was stripped by both players!

Thats a fair comment. You know with a full off season and a better run with injuries I think he can get rid of the almost

You see how Feldt put that ball down? That’s a kick up the you know what. Lost a U14 grand final from a stupid bugger dropping it over the line.

Feldt has had better years for less tries!
