The Parramatta Eels are trying to extend their unbeaten start to the year, but face a test against the vastly-improved St George Illawarra Dragons. Stay up to date with their NRL clash with live scores on The Roar from 6:15pm (AEST).

The Eels have looked the goods so far in 2021 and are chasing their second 5-0 start in as many years – but the real test will be avoiding the fadeout that ultimately did them in last season. They were leakier in defence against Wests Tigers on Monday than they would’ve liked, but had the firepower to get the job done and will look to do so again tonight.

Coming off two horror years, new coach Anthony Griffin appears to have the Dragons humming again as they enter this match on a three-game winning streak. Last week’s win over Newcastle – away from home – was particularly impressive, and they’ll be out to prove they’re a force to be reckoned with tonigt.

St George Illawarra scored a hard-fought 14-12 win when these sides met last year, their first ever win at Bankwest Stadium. Prior to that, however, Parramatta had won nine of the previous ten meetings between these sides.

Gutho played centre last year in Origin along with Wighton. Turbo has played both on the wing and in Origin as well and Campbell Graham IMHO is way ahead of Lomax in every respect except for goal kicking. As for look what happened last year… well the Blues won the year before with players like Wighton and Turbo playing in the centres, so…

Oh, the voices in my head. Too many voices! So hard to keep track when “circumstances” force one to have MPD! :silly:

Mitchell, Gutho and Turbo are all fullbacks and Wighton is a 5/8. Look what happened last year not having specialiasts in positions., beaten by the worst Qld team ever.

Not over Campbell Graham he doesn't. Then there is Latrell, Gutherson, Wighton and Turbo (back next week) before them. You are only looking at the positives mate. Last year Lomax lead the NRL for the most errors and was there abouts for most missed tackles. Despite being named as part of the Blues Origin squad previously that is hardly a recommendation for Origin football IMO.

I reckon Vaughan, Lawrie and Fuimaono all lifted due to McGrubs impending arrival. Don't like him but I think he'll do well in a pack that is playing hard, aggressive footy. If they add big Jack to that it'll be a hell of a forward pack.

His ability has never been in question, just his body. Great to see him back home and playing well. It's not just the fact he's a good player though, he's got that winners swagger about him that lifts his teammates.

The sharks should never thanked for anything, aside from making other clubs look more professional

Good result, love it. Maybe Griffin can now see no need for McGuire now. As HY suggested, yeah, the odd drink or two..................or three

Well done Dragons. 12th last year Tony? Makes me feel even better as a Cowboys fan. Beaten by Panthers, Dragons, Titans, Sharks away without Taumalolo, Morgan and a few others. Seems like those teams aren’t that easy to beat.

A few refreshments in store I suspect for you Saints' boys, and deservedly so. It's rare to see a game like that. What a pleasure! Eels will bounce back with a vengeance now.
