The Parramatta Eels and the Sydney Roosters are at opposite ends of the table but both have plenty to play for in the final game of the regular season. Join The Roar from 7:35pm (AEST) for live coverage of the match.

The Parramatta Eels had a major fall of grace in 2018, going from premiership contenders at the beginning of the season to running dead last.

They will need to pull off a miracle if they are to avoid a dreaded wooden spoon with only six wins for the year, one behind the Cowboys and Sea Eagles who sit in 14th and 15th respectively.

Brad Arthur will be wanting his team to redeem themselves after an embarrassing 44-6 thrashing at the hands of North Queensland in Townsville.

It will be down to Corey Norman and Mitchell Moses to finally find the spark they have been searching for over the last 26 weeks.

Their opponents have been struggling in recent weeks, falling from first position a couple of weeks ago to now sit in third and at risk of dropping out of the top four should results go against them.

Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will return in the front row from a rib injury, replace Dylan Napa who received a three-match ban for a dangerous tackle on Andrew McCullough.

The Roosters need to lift their intensity with back-to-back losses at the hands of the Raiders and Broncos seriously crippling their form a week out from the finals.

Luke Keary and Cooper Cronk need to find something to lift their team and get the tricolours in the right mindset ahead of a tough month of football in the road to a possible fourteenth premiership.

Roosters have been the dominant team in matches between the two teams, winning 75 of 145 games played since Parramatta entered the NSWRFL in 1947.

Their last meeting came in Round 10 of last year when Easts dismantled the Eels 48-10.

Prediction
The Roosters will close the regular season with a big performance, succumbing the Eels to the wooden spoon.

Roosters by 10.

Maybe so but no way a team will nor should be playing a final on a 5 day turnaround.

I get the feeling Melbourne home game will be Saturday. They don't love hosting Friday's down there.

No confirmation on that front yet. Makes sense given the short turnaround however, in previous years 1st vs 4th has always been played first.

Such a strange minor premiership, never felt like the Roosters were consistently good. But tonight was a pretty resounding performance that will make the other clubs stand up and take notice.

Manly still could pull off the upset Scotty. Or maybe my prediction in my blog tomorrow is going to look very silly.
