The Wests Tigers will have to flip a worrying trend when they take on red-hot defending premiers, the Sydney Roosters at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 7:35pm (AEST).
The Tigers have won just 2 of their last 17 games against the Roosters in what is one of Australian sports longest-running hoodoos.
The run takes them back to 2010, and they have just had no success against the tri-colours, despite having some good seasons amongst that run.
Ivan Cleary’s side have been up and down in form as well, which should be a major concern for the club coming into this fixture.
Their defence has left a lot to be desired, and against the Roosters, every flaw in their defensive line is going to be brought to light by an attack which, so far in 2019, has been widely rated as the best in the competition.
Just a fortnight ago, the Tigers leaked 51 points against the Eels, and while they came away with a win over the Titans last weekend, they were down 14-0 at one point.
While the Tigers have been starting games poorly, the Roosters have had issues at the end of games this year, with the Dragons and Storm both pushing them in the second half of their last two fixtures after a pair of blazing starts by Trent Robinson’s side.
The Roosters were on cruise control in the first 40 against the Dragons on Anzac Day, but then only just held on through the final minutes.
Regardless, their defence has been strong under pressure, and the form of Luke Keary, Cooper Cronk, James Tedesco and Latrell Mitchell is making them incredibly dangerous with the footy in hand.
Prediction
The Tigers have been inconsistent, but solid on their day. Unfortunately, solid probably isn’t going to get it done against a Roosters side who are showing absolutely zero signs of slowing down.
Roosters by 12.

I to would be salty if my 10 million dollar side couldn’t beat the second youngest team in the comp, I to would be salty living in the shadow of the Eastern Suburbs and being out cashed by a car salesman With all that saltyness all you need is a pretzel

Come on Insider, this is absolute nonsense “when I see you guys turn up and play”??? And since when haven’t we turned up and played??? We are equal 1st, have you forgotten??? Our position on the ladder prover completely the opposite, hence and your right “I don’t like Souths” and everybody has and will support his team ‘whichever way they want and like” and its not that my “little blue friend just won’t give up” its blokes like you that don’t give up, don’t blame it on my “little blue friend” as we have the passion and the glory (remember our song glory glory …lol) its all part of the course mate! There is nothing wrong with passion and Souths this Souths that, it’s the same for any team and their supporters, as I’m sure you have for Manly. And saying that “I support Manly but I like Brisbane, Easts, Dogs and Raiders” is a bit of a copout as we all “enjoy a good honest game of footy”. Ease off and respect and enjoy the passion that some fans have! Its very unfortunate that Manley hasn’t given you (and their fans) that passion for a while lol

Mate seriously, your little blue friend just won’t give up, Souths this Souths that, we are on the top, we did this we did that! Who cares about 1930’s who cares about the roosters “conspiracy” cap, I support Manly but I like Brisbane, Easts, Dogs and Raiders, to be honest I enjoy a good honest game of footy. It’s blokes like your mate that ruin it for everyone, highjacking calls every week, he gives but just can’t take that’s why they ran him out of ZT, don’t be offended if I don’t like Souths but when I see you guys turn up and play I will compliment

You never ever seem to amaze me ‘Insider’ with your nonsense, who do you go for? As you seem to have a go at anybody and anyone!

Thanks for the correction Papi :). That would be an interesting and I think contrived end to the season.. Hoping your boys can dent the chook’s confidence before semis.

Puppy you lost, just let someone, anyone enjoy it when there club who won’t win a premiership this year enjoy the moment. Stop being so sour, having to go back to the 1930’s because you struggle with being second even if it is for a week, cmon are you a child?
Insider
Roar Rookie
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Second to Roosters And you couldn’t beat Manly Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Insider
Roar Rookie
You don’t need tissues, sadly you won’t find it here, as I’ve already written you just can’t handle being second for a week, the thought of someone’s side who has zero chance of a premiership this year beating you turns you to water, like the barking dogs in the neighbourhood you won’t stop until you pass out from exhaustion. Let it go, no need to drown everything with your endless supply of rabbit sultanas we know your the greatest the best the only Just not the “currant” ( sultanas LOL) PREMIERS
Insider
Roar Rookie
Shhhhhh BA I’m out of tissues , does anyone know who the current NRL Premiers ? Every time you say Roosters are Premiers it begins to rain
Insider

Hey big show, only one mythical character has an issue with conspiracies, if you feel your missing out because you too would like lavender tissues there is enough to go round, right now The King of Tissue manufacturing is preparing for a bumper day of magic I will take the liberty and order you not a box but a roll so you can fit them in your pocket

This “tissue” thing that you carry on about is as boring as the conspiracy theories of years ago about who the NRL want to win the comp. Get yourself some tissues and get over whatever your problem is

Didn’t the Roosters beat the Broncos by 32 points as well? And didn’t they beat Manly convincingly while when Souths played Manly....

Et tu, jimmmy? Souths beat the Roosters by 10 points in round 1 and are the ONLY team to have beaten the chooks this year. Both teams are the ONLY teams with a 7 - 1 record and are locked on 14 competition points with just 18 points separating them on points differential. Next week the Roosters play the in form Raiders who are coming 3rd while Souths play the 10th placed Cowboys with a 3 - 5 record. The likely scenario is that the Rabbitohs will either be outright 1st on competition points or by points differential.
