Did Channel 9 make a blue with their coverage of Adelaide Oval Welcome to Country?

By The Roar / Editor

Channel 9’s pre-Origin show has come under fire, with the network cutting away from the now-traditional Welcome to Country at the Adelaide Oval, to presenters Karl Stefanovic and Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns.

Fans took to social media to voice their displeasure over the decision, with former AFL footballer and Indigenous advocate Tony Armstrong among them.

Gee you are good at making up stuff in your head. My white god...? There is no god. Of any colour. Hopefully you read my post again slowly and have now understood your mistake. Again, I view the "now traditional" Welcome to Country the same way as every aboriginal I know. It's not complicated, even an intellectual like your good self should be able to comprehend

Buzz Rothfield today bemoaned the snubbing of “Network Star Erin Molan” for SOO last night. What is the criteria nowadays to be referred to as a “star”? Puzzling.

How do organisations like 9 keep shooting themselves in the foot? It’s not hard to just show a little respect even if you don’t believe in the content I’m not religious but on the rare occasions I go to church for a funeral or wedding, I bow my head and shut my mouth when people are praying, even though the idea is ridiculous to me Tolerance and respect should be the bare minimum, we seemingly have little and less of either

Perhaps Channel 9 feel we need to see more of Karl’s false smile & absorb his vast knowledge & insight of the game! Karl is an expert on everything. Just ask him. Reminded me of Todd Woodbridge hosting a cricket panel. I give thanks to whoever invented the MUTE button.

Absolutely disrespectful. A cringeworthy moment! When are we ever going to learn to show respect towards the culture, song and dance of the traditional owners of this land. We show respect towards the haka, the singing of hymns and prayers, why can’t we extend the same level of respect here?

That’s ok. I was thinking you had more intelligence and could form a rational reply about respect , but you dodged and weaved and deflected . So intellectually I don’t this concept is for you . May your white god bless you with good fortune .

Yes of course I forgot you speak for every aboriginal. How about you just be respectful . Your parents would like to know their daughter or son has some class and manners ..

Well if a few people on twitter got upset, then yes Channel 9 should lose their license.
