To be fair to Kent, he did play a game for Parramatta in 1989 or something.
Prior to that he spent his time trying to get into fights at roller skate rinks.
I think it was Kent that reported Cody Walker was desperate to get out of Souths a while ago. How did that story work out. What about the Burgess selfie just before the semis last year that amounted to a big pile of crap. I dont pay much attention to what these half arsed commentators say anymore they all just want a exclusive story to remain relevant. The actual ex footballers like Johns and Sterlo are relevant because they actually have real experience and can talk footy. These News hacks are just gutter crawlers who love nothing more than muckrakers.
To be fair, I think Bennett is one of the few coaches that sees the value in a good centre. He had Hodges at the Broncos. And apparently paid big money for Bird. He pulled strings twice to get Roberts.
But yeah, Gagai is definitely a winger.
Mixed feelings.
It is rare for an innocent person to plead guilty to something they didn’t do when they haven’t done anything wrong. It happens in really trivial matters where the penalty will only be a fine or a warning etc, but the costs and trouble of defending it will be much greater.
It also happens where a person is getting charged with multiple offences and are guilty of some, but not others. Sentences are served concurrently, not consecutively, so pleading guilty to extra offences doesn’t matter.
I have been in court (not my case)where a magistrate realised and pointed out to everyone that a guy charged with dozens of burglaries was pleading guilty to several offences that took place while he was in prison several years ago. Very awkward.
Most ‘plea bargains’ are done to reduce a charge to something less serious (say murder to manslaughter, Or to have circumstances of aggravation dropped from a charge) It is very rare for a completely innocent person to be completely stitched up. Outrageous when it happens.
I could write 10,000 words about guilty pleas.
At the end of the day, the simple fact of the matter is that we don’t have the resources to run every case to trial, so we need to incentivise guilty pleas.
More to the point here - what is Gagai's problem? Centre is a dead position. Since the change in defensive patterns to left and right field and edge forwards etc. tell me how many legend centres have there been over the past 5 years? I grew up with Rogers, Ettingshausen, Ella, Cronin, Kenny (for Australia) Myles, Meninga, Renouf, Johhnston & Johns (being a Dragons fan), Mortimers, O'Conner, Mark Gasnier - all champion centres right up to Inglis. Until Latrell Mitchell started setting the world on fire the position was dead and often backed up by second rowers - and even he wants to move to 5/8. Seen the athleticism and skills of wingers these days?? Wing is a more profile position than centre these days and Gagai has made a name for himself as an incredible State of Origin winger, and ordinary club centre. Who the hell got into his ear to tell him centre should be his preferred position? He might play for Australia as a winger, no chance as a centre. Wake up fella!!
On a bit of a 'off topic' diversion, you are a lawyer? I'm led to understand? How does 'plea bargaining' sit with you? For me, and I'm happy to be corrected, the concept of accepting guilt for something you didn't do, simply because of the difficulty in proving innocence in something else you didn't do would be incredible difficult to stomach.
Funnily enough I was going to make a reference to Kent = hypocrite in the dictionary. Then I actually looked it up. KENT = 'past and past participle'. Participle = 'is going, has been'
Choo Choo, you and Kenty are the same, he gets upset when mr Burns lies to him, you get upset when we tell you the truth!

I lost any respect for Paul Kent’s take on moral or ethical issues years ago. He has a warped view of what ethical behaviour is. Two examples:
1. He questioned the character and honour of the Cronulla players in taking a guilty plea and a 3 week suspension in relation to the PED scandal. This was a situation where the players believed they had done nothing wrong, but knew they were almost certainly not going to be able to prove their innocence and would likely face bans if 12 to 24 months if they fought the charges and lost.
Kent thought it would be more honourable for the players to fight the charge, lose, destroy their careers and deprive their young families of $400k to $1.6 million of two years income. Apparently, staining their good names with a guilty plea was less honourable than providing a good living for their families. What an idiot.
2. Karmichael Hunt got caught with cocaine (the first time) and was potentially looking at actual jail time. He gave a statement to police detailing how he obtained the cocaine and what he did with it. That statement implicated several other footballers. Kent, the ever vigilant guardian of honour and moral virtue, took issue with Hunt assisting police, calling it dishonourable and describing Hunt as lacking integrity. That’s right - cooperating with police and assisting them with their investigations is dishonourable according to Kent.
He wouldn’t recognise ethical, honourable conduct if it schat in his mouth.
Don't normally agree with PK on media beatups, but this one is all Souths doing.
Souths with Wayne in charge have a huge credibility problem into the future.
You bunnies get ready for more episodes of the "Benny an the Jet" soap opera.
The rest of us can get the pop corn out.
Give Kenty a break.
The poor bloke is a failed league player, a wannabe boxer and now doing his best to pay the bills as a journo.
Getting grumpier every year l believe partly because he's not getting much right.
So I'm confused. Is Paul Kent upset because he is a former footballer who wasn't good enough to make first grade and had to fall back on being a journo because it was the only way he could get into a dressing room? Or is he frustrated because he is a journo who always gets beaten to a scoop and has to talk about other people's stories? Or perhaps a bit of both?
Anyway, the chips on both his shoulders are clearly so big he must have every seagull from the northern beaches following him everywhere he goes.
So did I until he starting coaching the Rabbitohs. Some might call that ironic and some might call it karma. Either way, I'm on board with Bennett until the time comes to push him overboard.

Having heard more, Kent is irrational about this, bordering on vindictive hatred...

But as you can see on here, Paul Kent has a few admirers who consider him a quality journo with the like. Insider for one follows Kent religiously.
