Harry Plummer will wear the No.10 jersey against the Hurricanes after Beauden Barrett was given a breather for this all Kiwi clash. Join the Roar for live scores from 5.05pm AEST.
Needing to miss one of the next two weeks because of the All Blacks’ workload management, the Blues opted to leave out Barrett after he cut his heel last week during the side’s win over the Reds in Brisbane.
But the Blues do have some heavy-hitters returning, with prop Ofa Tuungafasi, halfback Finlay Christie, centre Rieko Ioane and winger Caleb Clarke returning. Fellow Test prop Nepo Laulala starts at tight-head prop, too.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have also brought back some of their stars with prop Tyrel Lomax, hooker Asafo Aumua, back-rower Ardie Savea and inside centre Jordie Barrett returning.

I thought the Canes did well especially in the first half just to stay in the game. They could have won if they kicked their kicks, but I thought the better team with better wing won today…and deserved the victory. Also thought the referee had a good game.

Telea is one of the best in NZ.. Today he beat 10 defenders with 3 clean breaks. Ran 52 meters… 4 tries. Legend

It was only their lineout — their scrum was pretty good. And lineout throwing can't have been easy in those conditions.

a comment on his goalkicking (-14)?

Horrendous goal kicking by the Canes a big reason for the result. As a skill it’s still too underrated by NZ SR teams apparently. Talea outstanding. Hardly saw Clarke all game.

At this level you can't kick like this and expect to win.

Blues look better without Barrett at 10.

16 points missed by Hurricanes from poor kicking. Which is 80% of the value of one Telea.

A very exciting game without ref bashing.
