That is what happens if you tackle the ten hard, they play a little bit deeper and pass earlier.

'Purely coincidental': Chiefs coach defends bruiser after ANOTHER late shot leaves Tah flattened - but was it legal?

No give back what you get. Hard tackles but still legal.

I went for an eye test and tested with 20/20 vision. Also I am from Western Australia so can’t be accused of bias. If there was any bias it would be in favour of Australian teams. If you want to judge the timing you need to judge it in real time. The referee was perfectly positioned to make the call and he made it in line with what he saw. Maybe those that have a problem with the tackle are biased.

Mr Swinton was not even penalised in that game. TMO turned up late to game, went to the toilet or grap a coffee as he missed the obvious!

It is important to note that the official does not look for a successful wrap, but for an attempt to wrap.

Looked at it the Lynach tackle and disagree. People tend to be more sensitive when the 10 gets floored. The tackler was committed to the tackle and the match officials agreed. However he will get it wrong soon and then will get carded.

Agree, there was nothing wrong with any of the four tackles. He was fully committed to the tackle and made an attempt to wrap and it was not high. The official got it right. I hate the laws that “protect” the 9 as if the 9 is more special- let’s not extend that to the 10s.

That is the problem with hiding the details of the deal between RA, VRU and the Victoria government. We don’t y know how much it cost the rest of Australia to save the Rebels. The Rebels franchise was poorly setup from the start and must be the most expensive failure in Australian rugby’s history. There has been no accountability at the RA and Rebels Board level for anything with an expectation from the Rebels directors that the rest of Australia will and must always bail them out. This needs to stop.

UPDATE: RA say they were blindsided over Rebels' finances, reject private consortium claim as administrator backs club's survival

What is significant is that according to the report, the Rebels may have been trading while insolvent a year after RA axed the Force. How incompetent was RA Chairman Cameron Clyne to negotiate a deal with the VRU and Victoria government to “secure the future of the Rebels” that within a single year left the franchise still insolvent. Don’t use covid as an excuse as there was no covid in 2018. The Rebel directors should take the responsibility for trading while insolvent and to do that for five years is criminal.

Rebels administration was like teenagers spending far beyond their means hoping Dad (RA) will bail the out again.

NZR’s CEO had the biggest influence on the success of the URC, however I don’t think he will claim the credit,

'Easy to throw stones': RA chairman hits back at mudslingers' 'hypocrisy' after calls for AGM board cleanout

This Board will not propose change. If the members cast a vote of no confidence then they will demonstrate the appetite.

Nepotism is the problem, however Herbert prefers to shoot the messengers.

When does any of RA come to Perth? It was too far to fly for Clyne, is it too far for Herbert. Never seen him at any of the Force games..ever,

It is not an election where the opposition has to campaign with an alternative agenda. Spil the Board and let the rugby public choose who is the best – this may even include Herbert as Chair. However as Herbert has no appetite to reform the constitution, the same problems will continue to plague rugby.

'Easy to throw stones': RA chairman hits back at mudslingers' 'hypocrisy' after calls for AGM board cleanout

The article I read this morning I think I have probably read about 10 times over the last decade.
Instead of blaming those that seeks reform, why not investigate what the root cause is and address it. The nomination committee clearly needs to go as there is no need to vet candidates so that only a single point of view are represented at the Board. Also this gives the Chairman too much power as the Chairman of this three person Nomination Committee- those Board members that are not prepared to vote in line with the party line just will not get vetted. This doesn’t help diversity of thinking and different perspectives at Board level that improves debate and decisions. However no Chair including Herbert would want to make a change that reduces his power.

There is no reason by Waugh should remain. If he is selected as CEO by the new Board and willing to do the job then he could stay to implement the strategy.

'Definition of madness': Rugby reform must start with total cleanout of RA board - and this should happen next

The flawed nomination process also gave is Clyne, Pulver and others like them. It is not suitable mechanism to select a Board with diverse views and skills.

'Definition of madness': Rugby reform must start with total cleanout of RA board - and this should happen next

RA has repetitively with different Board members suffered the same problems. Russ is correct that the problem with RA is systemic and that a new constitution is desperately needed. It is time for radical change now as the nominations committee is dysfunctional and so are the Board that closed shop that such a structure produces. We need a new constitution and a new start.

If forward planning is forwards focused and not so much on the backs then it is really planning for the future. A huge concern that the majority of the forwards are new recruits. Injury cover is an issue, however more serious questions need to be asked about the recruitment, development of WA based players and retention going forward.

Let's celebrate rugby for its differences: Why imitating league is not the answer

This sentiment does not reflect the global reality where the game has never been stronger and is played in more nations than ever before. The 7s version is even an Olympic sport today.

That is a weak comeback Tony. We know how many people went looking for the article and found it. We don’t know how many didn’t scroll down and missed the article. It is a disincentive to write which a is fair point.

Agree BF. If someone gives his time to write a good article we should not have to look for it.

Let's celebrate rugby for its differences: Why imitating league is not the answer

The problem with tactics to slow down the play is the motivation to do so. In games where the Boks are at full strength with two quality packs it is the opponents that are wasting time. However when a player gets injured or carded the dynamic changes. Play has to stop and the clock when a front rower gets injured prior to a scrum…not sure how you will practically enforce your proposal.
