Yep, thought we were very lucky to win.
Did you see Valetini almost managing to get underneath BPA and hold him up from close range? He must be astoundingly strong, I couldn't believe how good an effort he made there.
I sadly think you're right. Both Cheika and most Australian fans have made clear for a long time that they would rather lose with Foley than win with Quade.
Quite a stunning situation I think, and I do wonder how the media will write about things looking back in 10 years time.
Great game in the wet. Very entertaining. Already mentioned on this thread but Valetini looked like a good 8 prospect for the Wallabies. Cooper also looks sharp in among many Super Rugby players. Glad he is getting another shot.
Geez the Vikings got the rub of the green. First try off a pass miles forward just after Brisbane had try called back for a flattish one. Not releasing, obstructions and others all missed. Brisbane unlucky.
I took a friend of mine out here , who was back from England for this fathers funeral. He has played for Uni and Easts and London NZ, back in time. I was trying to explain to him the state of game here in Australia. trying to explain the NRC and going back to the clubs, etc. He bought an Easts Jersey for his son back in England who loves rugby but has never played the game. It was truly horrible and muddy. You could hear the hits. he was very impressed by how big these boys were up close.
Ack, typos. My last sentence "Remember the Drua got wiped out in their last couple of matches because National duty (and suspension) took away too many of their guns" referred to the final games in last years NRC. Am not sure if the same will happen to the Drua side this year.
Yeah Quade is worth the price of admission, eh! Lucky Rebs fans. Hope he readjusts to the higher SR pace quickly.
Valentini, yep still very promising. Here’s hoping he “ has a really good week at training” when he’s called up for WB duty...
Valetini's line out technique will improve, he's certainly tall enough to be a very good jumper.
I wonder whether Kerevi and Petaia might one day combine as a long term centre combination? Suspect Petaia will be on the wing for his first few Wallaby seasons though, with TK at 13.
Also, I'm looking forward to seeing that Quade magic again!
Fionn, that was magic. I couldn't describe it and just told folks to look at the video. LoL
Tom Banks and Quade Cooper both put in very good games in the rotten conditions. And agree that Rob Valetini was immense. The big shame is he has that cloud over his head with crook knees, but if M.Cheika seriously wants a big #8 with lots of ticker and skill then Valetini is his man. Only thing is the Pooper and Valetini weakens the lineout.
Yesterday Jordan Petaia booked a flight on the EOYT. Only 18 and he put in a sensational game. 2020 and T.Kuridrani and S.Kerevi will be fighting for reserve spot in the centres.
Cheers, Dave. Was amazed by the immense strength of Valetini at times.
Also, how good was that instance when Quade slid into the ball, threw it back inside when he realised he was going to slide out, picked it up, dodged into the tackle then flicked it around the back to offload?

Australia look glaringly weak at flyhalf and Foley is a much better player when Quade is in the squad - which is why he will be picked.

He will be the bolter for the European tour. I am calling it - Cheika will pull a surprise and pick him once he signs with the Rebels.
