The Hurricanes face a big clash as they take on a winless Chiefs outfit at Wellington’s Sky Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:05pm (AEST). .

The Chiefs – one of the contenders when the season began – are staring down a very ominous record. They’re last place, five points behind second-last Highlanders. Lose today, and they’ll finish the season winless. Win, and they avoid that record – although their 0-7 record isn’t pretty viewing whatever way one looks at it.

That 0-7 record does not necessarily translate into the Chiefs being horrendous this year, because they haven’t. In the past fortnight, the team from Hamilton have come close to beating both the Crusaders and the Blues, but weren’t able to get there.

The Hurricanes, for their part, are currently sitting third, and a win today will be vital in ensuring they remain in with an opportunity secure the title, however slim their chancs. They face the Highlanders next Saturday – a game they’re favourites in – but can’t slip up in either game.

The last match between these two – early last month – ended in a seven-point Hurricanes win.

The Chiefs won’t be handing a final game to NZ international Aaron Cruden, but there is potential for Robb Cobb and Kini Naholo to make their Super Rugby debuts. Warren Gatland’s team has also lost Lachlan Boshier, but have gained instrumental All Black Luke Jacobson.

The Hurricanes won’t see former All Black Julian Savea return to the team, but do regain Dane Coles and Tyrel Lomax. Wes Goosen will celebrate 50 games.

Never had any issues, but I do watch on my phone most of the time, only cast occasionally.

I suspect if the Reds defended like the Chiefs (even though they lost) they were in with a chance but because of the up and down standard of the Aussie comp it would never reach the same standards of these NZ games

I don’t have too many issues, but works best if you just watch from start to finish. I cast from my phone and if you want to pause and stuff with your phone ‘sometimes’ it will bring you back to the start as my phone locks and forgets where it was - maybe that’s my phone fault though? Would be great if they had a Kayo app for a smart TV, it would solve so many issues.

Going back to MMA, they would typically need him to stand down for 45 days or so - Of course different promotions vary but I’d be surprised he was in the field next week, especially with his history. I don’t see as the AB captain if he has this many serious injuries.

Good game and was anyone’s for taking for the most part. Out of interest, how big is Kirifi compared to his positional competition, he seemed smaller but has been having a great season so far. And boy, he is quick.

Awesome game. Jordie has really come of age this season - best 15 in NZ.

I am afraid that you are right, RT. Very very good to see him after the game looking pretty good. But no doubt, he got concussed today and we will see what kind of recovery time he will need.

Beauty of a win there for the Canes. Geez this comp really needed a final, would have been epic.
