Blues coach Leon MacDonald has confirmed former NRL star Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will play at second-five, or inside centre, for the Auckland side this season.
He had below average playmaking skills for a NRL fullback and yet to see whether he can kick or not
He probably will do well especially at Super level but 12 as his best position will be an interesting watch as he develops
I blame the coach when it doesnt work. He made the decision to play him there and to use the tactics he did. Reality is Havili started with a bang and ended with a wimper and most are asking for a better 12. I believe RTS will be that better 12. Havili isnt a 12. he’s an FB with some ball playing skills. I was happy to see him selected at 12 as I think historicly NZ has had plenty of great 12s who arnt Nonu’s but Havili isnt that person for the ABs
Sure, our ever-qualified coach (61-17!) picks an 85kg inside back to run crash-balls off our flyhalf all game, forgets he is a natural secondary playmaker/kicker - and you blame him when it doesn’t work?!
Havili failed. Havili is the one who proved you wrong but I do think the obsession with a Nonu 12 limits the possabilities but Havili just didnt nail it and faded as the season went longer. Mind you many faded as the season went longer as it was a very long year for the ABs so maybe if no one else stands up Havili will get another shot.
Not if the coaches are still hell-bent on looking for another in the Nonu-mould!
Foster & co. appear unable to see the #12 role beyond that of a primary crash-baller - and totally threw away any consideration for David Havili's skillet when they selected him. I fear RTS may also be a 'square peg' that is forced down the 'round hole' - if he does earn selection.
Prove me wrong Fozzie. Prove me wrong!

At 12 he might not need to kick that much, at least for ABs ...

I think he is the perfect 12. Been saying it since well before he was signed and I have not changed my thinking. He is quality.

Shame Reiko and RTS are in the same team, would’ve thought RTS would be ideal at 13

Could he be the answer to the ABs problems at 12? Here’s hoping. They still haven’t replaced Nonu IMHO.
