Not really Jibba Jabba. The fact was that it was a test between Australia and NZ. Not B teams. Yes, dead rubber for the Bledisloe but still live for the Tri-Nations. They are the facts. I’m sure if NZ had won we wouldn’t be hearing the dead rubber/ B team opinions
Coaches say some very intelligent things at times, some very mysterious things at other times and sometimes they say dumb things and make begrudging comments. This is (similar to Plumtree's "AB's don't whinge/cry" but I'll have a whine about the refereeing anyway) a dumb and begrudging comment.
Not sure about the mathematics Kane, but what I was saying are the ABs going forwards or backwards. If backwards it becomes difficult for us to benchmark against them.
Although it was not that easy when they were #1 and we just lost all the time :crying:
You had a tough foward pack 20 yrs ago..it all depends on your terms of reference mate..I have followed them for 45 yrs and have seen some tough/hard AB packs. This is not one of them and neither was the one at the RWC..our tight 5 is not good enough...
That’s probably even more bizarre Smiggle. One of the things pretty much certain is that the Wallabies and Australian rugby fans never underestimate any NZ rugby team. Frankly, I reckon they are paid too much credit and it was refreshing to see the Wallabies really rip in this year (Sydney excepted). Even in Auckland they got stuck in but were probably too anxious and things didn’t work properly
I agree Gun Dog. NZ don’t like it when they are roughed up. To have any chance against them you need to get stuck right into them and force them out of their comfort zone. This isn’t to suggest they are soft though. 20 years ago the Wallabies could out smart them and may have been a fraction fitter. Now, it seems the only way is to rip into them. Let’s hope the Wallabies learn to do this consistently
The Wallabies lacked mongrel and were insipid in game 3..they were full of grunt and mongrel in game 4 that is the most obvious difference in their performance.
Once again when an opposition team fronts them with increased physicality the AB’S fold. Their pack is soft and easily rattled..Rennie out mongrelled and out smarted Foster .
Hope NZ stick with this fool for at least another 10 years. Aus deverves the credit fullstop. They put them under pressure for long duration and normally where I come from causes unforced errors.
Hopefully we now build on this and we should expect some pretty good performances .
Even then, we won't learn that much because they risk being under done. Of course if we lose then we know we have a problem.

That's a bit simplistic view. The players were given an opportunity to start, they didn't take it. On paper the line up was impressive.

Yep, the difference was Foster's selections... the loss is down to him ..

Agree but not changes affecting 10 positions ffs..

Coaches do some dumb things at times - Foster's is his selection policy .... he does not respect the ABs will to win with his stupid changes

I don't think any team can take No1 off the Boks until the Boks play again.

If the Wallabies were insipid in game 3 then you can say the same for ABs in game 4 with a rotated line up.
