LANGUAGE WARNING: Wallaby sent off for swearing as skipper cheekily tries to get him off the hook

By The Roar / Editor

That was some effort from Stade Francais captain Tala Gray to defend his hooker Tolu Latu… The Paris side came away 37-31 victors even with a depleted side for half the game.

I was commenting about one University team, not all. Of course anyone can play anywhere they like.

That's not really what I am saying. All I mean is that my university rugby team had non university students in it and I have friends who are playing in university rugby teams but are not students there. The Uni club is after all just a rugby club with the name "University" on the front. However, having said that I am aware that it may be different at some universities where they may not allow non students to be members of university clubs. It all depends on how the club has been set up.

I am not sure that is the case Scott. There are several issues here, and I confess that I am not across all of it. But if it is true that student scholarships are offered to players when other clubs are unable to offer such a resource, do we have a level playing field?

There's no reason why someone who plays for the uni club necessarily has to be a student there is there? Just as students are free to play at other clubs?

That's right, he really meant to say "Fois gras with your Champagne after the game Sir?"

Know too many to be alarmed. Many mates, cousins, a daughter and a few rugby players looking for a non cash education. I am assuming you refer to your eccentric self?

As one enemy wag with a megaphone sledged on Shute grand final day, after Latu had been helicoptered in to bolster the students- “Hey Latu! What’s your degree in? Scaffolding?” Non-studying ‘students’ are not assisting rugby at Uni or anywhere else.

You’ll work it out Mick, eventually. Their father on junior grand final day at Milner would have a competition with another local dad as to how many grand finals each mob had won entry to. Mick’s mob usually won. Era of Reidsnr and Mathers

"something appropriately discouraging" Ha! After being named captain, and being somewhat puzzled why, I came off at half-time to hear a distinctive voice growl "If I hear you swear in front of a referee again you will not captain another of my teams". :stoked: That bloke had a profound influence on many things and me not swearing since was one of 'em - can you believe it!? :stoked: "Choose to be articulate" he said, he surely was. His performance on the paddock was impressive, in two sports, his coaching successes were many and his work helping to produce five premiership coaches is unsurpassed. His first and continual lesson was how to tackle. PS: I am yet to address the homework set, to remember five brothers who played for the Mighty Woods, one whose name is Mick.

Oh dear - you would be alarmed to discover the type they used admit to study at Sydney University! :stoked: :silly:

I hope Rennie messaged him with something appropriately discouraging.

“ he didn’t waste too much time educating himself” Not so, Mick. At Sydney University no less. They have a proud alumni, especially at grand final time.

I agree Mick, what does this say to the viewers? He needs to pull his head in.

But the Coach is still a dumb Ar@se if this is the culture there.

You remind me - I saw some team official throw a sympathetic arm around his shoulder at the first yellow card. While they have that weak structure around them intelligent people can debate all week about how to forge a future for the game, why do they bother? Latu demonstrably doesn't care.

That clown made his way to 28 by accident - he didn't waste too much time educating himself. Who does the genius pick on to flex his muscles? Wayne Barnes. As the great Mark Loane said of a momentary Wallaby, when he turned up dishevelled to an official function, "Mediocrity ships me."
