Nitpicking Rennie still searching for flawlessness as Wallabies couldn't put 'foot on the throat'

By The Roar / Editor

Just like the previous victory over Argentina, the Australian coach wasn’t willing to settle for the win alone. His obsession with a flawless performance can only mean good things for the Wallabies ahead of the Spring Tour.

I rate that game as one of the test matches, not to miss. AB's underpressure is a rare and beautiful thing! I feel that SA is not quite done yet on their cycle, when Kolbe and Du Toit are back in the 1st 15, European teams will get the brunt of it (they have a little something to prove). I also note that Rennie's game plan is also worthy of studying as he brought them down twice. The Wallabies' dominance in defense has largely gone unnoticed by the press against SA. Can't say how invigorated the Geek is with International Rugby atm. McMahon was pretty absent on the field on Saturday. His hype did not deliver. JP also shows he has much to learn about playing within himself. Both will suffer under the squad's competitive rankings.

Thought it was Rennie and the coaches that took their collective ‘feet off the throat’. Emptying the bench, because the game appeared to be won, nearly bit them with the drop in intensity and the unexpected injuries to Kerevi and Petaia.

Wallabies, when will they learn to kick up and unders they can contest? Surely the coach would make this a priority. Maybe give me the job.

Not just grounded Geek. Also head down, bums up. That aB Bok game was an indicator of rugby warfare. I hope that every one of that WB squad watched it, and learnt from it. The WBs should know how hard it is to win a test match. But, even a team as red hot as the ABs has weak points. And with enough urgency and accuracy cracks can be levered open. The Boks did rugby dreamers a service. Not just showing the way against the ABs, but more showing the way to turn a stubborn game plan internally and apply it with commitment to achieve something thought impossible.

Love it, Yes we won, and being a Wallaby fan it's "pinch yourself' stuff in getting used to it. But Rennie has higher expectations and we now rely on the press to not get too hooplah so our players remain grounded.
