The A-League’s two youngest clubs go head to head this evening when Western United host Macarthur FC at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores of the clash from 5:05pm (AEDT).

Macarthur’s first foray into the top tier of Australian football has gone about as well as could have been expected. They’ve won half of their games, and are sitting quite comfortably in second place behind only the high-flying Mariners.

The Bulls’ last two outings have been particularly impressive: a 2-0 upset win away to the Roar followed by a 4-0 drubbing of the mid-table Adelaide United makes for some imposing recent form.

Western United, on the other hand, have hardly been able to get on the piece lately. They haven’t played since February 7, when they played out a thrilling 3-2 loss on the Central Coast. Since then, the COVID pandemic and Victoria’s short lockdown has played havoc with their fixture list, forcing the postponement of last week’s game against Sydney.

With only five games played for the season – three fewer than Macarthur – it’s not worth reading too much into United’s lowly position on the ladder, and they’ll just be hoping to get some continuity into their play in the coming rounds.

It’s hard to know what to make of Macarthur, I don’t think Milicic knows what his best team is.

After yesterday's insult to the intelligence this was a breath of fresh air with only one thing separating the teams, the act of goal scoring. Both teams' impressed with their movement of the ball, both constantly seeking the fastest way to goal. The score in no way reflects what was going on on the pitch and both coaches have to be congratulated for their attitudes to the game, with the play being always entertaining. Best game we've had for some time. Cheers jb.

Oh believe me I hope it happens cause I want to see Perth win a championship for once. I do agree that Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane have fortresses in their home states, but at the end of the day, if a team is good enough, they’ll win anywhere.

The A-League is utterly unpredictable this season. What’s going on? Big scores, VAR controversies & topsy-turvey teams. Good luck picking the grand final winner too!

once the NSW teams start traveling interstate every week, you watch the ladder get turned on its head.

In answer to your question, the Central Coast Mariners last night... Oh wait, the VAR took those points away and gave them to Adelaide. Newcastle got one point from Brisbane but aside that, no.

The red shirt referee was just meters away. Why VAR intervenes?

looks like the most fortuitous team this season is about to begin their descent towards missing the 6, as ive been saying lets get these NSW teams traveling. By round 14 you'll have a clearer idea of how this season is shaping up. Has any team from NSW picked up 3 points interstate yet this season?

Macarthur are the kings of possession. The score might not be in their favour now, but I predict they will fire-up in the last quarter.

As manipulative & cheeky Berisha is, I have to admit he still has the goods. Rudan would have been thanking his lucky stars when the Albanian signed for WU.

Kind of expected this result so far. Bulls will always do well against the bottom 8 clubs.
