Melbourne will be looking to rectify what went wrong last week after dominating for the first three quarters, before losing their way in front of goal which ultimately cost them victory.

The loss was only made worse with influential ruckman Max Gawn picking up a hamstring injury, likely to rule him out for 12 weeks.

Fremantle surprised everybody with a 13-point over the premiers after making six changes and bringing in some youth. The Hill brothers were dynamic and Nate Fyfe dominated the middle.

A lot now rests on the shoulders of Jake Spencer to do the bulk of the ruck work until Gawn returns for the Demons. They played in tandem during the preseason and Spencer did some nice things.

Two bulls will be going head-to-head in the middle, with young star Clayton Oliver getting better with each game after having another 28 disposals against the best duo in the competition. On the other side Nat Fyfe had 33 touches and looked every bit like his Brownlow Medal form of two seasons ago.

Prediction
Both sides were very impressive in their performances last week. If Melbourne bring the same sort of pressure as last week then they should get the win today.

Melbourne by 18.

It was hard enough for me to watch the whole Port game on TV. I don't know how you did it live at Adelaide Oval! But that is all in the past now and we can look forward. Hopefully the last two weeks of footy from Freo can be the minimum standard. If we compete like this every week I will be extremely happy.

So happy right now, can't wait to see what this team does once they start to gel. There was one play when Walters kicked to Mcarthy that didn't result in a goal but had me more excited about the future than the 4 points banked today.

To be honest, I enjoy betting more for the maths and pot odds involved. First few weeks are often hard to predict for the bookies and fans. Just pick the games where the odds don't quite add up; steer clear of sentimental favourites (the odds are always skewed) & take emotion out of your picks when money's on the line.

And to think that I sat through that round 2 disaster. I'm gonna look at it philosophically and say that what I witness was the impetus to our new-found success, rather than an awful match. At least that's what the optimistic side of me want's to think! I'm now very confident that we can get over North at home next week, and then it's onto the derby: now, that'll be a super test of our credentials!

Match Report The Fremantle Dockers have come away from the MCG with a 2point victory against Melbourne today to make it back to back wins. It was a tight contest in the first quarter with only Melbourns poor kicking into putting them infront being down by 3. Both teams traded goals up until about 10minutes to go in the 2nd quarter when Melbourne put on a spurt of 5goals in a row led by Jeff Garlett who ended with 3 and was manic with his pressure up forward early. Lachie Neale kicked 1 after the siren to bring the margin back to 21points but it looked like how far for Melbourne at half time. Boy did things change in the 3rd quarter. Fremantle kicked 7goals to 0 and had blown the game wide open. Lachie Neale was instrumental in the comeback kicking 4 goals for the game along side other midfielder David Mundy who kicked 3. The final term was nothing but chaos. As you would have hoped Melbourne got back into the game and even hit the front late on when Viney took a strong contested mark to put them up by 3 with 2minutes to play. Cam Mccarthy kicked the winner with a minute to play as the ball spilled out the back and he got his boot to the ball to put the away side ahead. James Harmes had a long range shot with seconds left to play but only manage a point. The suspensions of Jesse Hogan and Jordan Lewis are still costing the team as they both may have changed the result of the previous 2 weeks. It looked all doom and gloom after the first 2 rounds but you must give credit to Ross Lyon for bringing in the youth and turning things around and now are 2-2 and anything looks possible.

Wow! Amazing turnaround from Freo after round 2. We look like a new side - taking the game on and it is paying off for us. Great to see. Really enjoying watching this side grow. Lots to look forward to.

Straight up, about $350. However, I've also done a load of spread bets, so depending on who wins...could make over a grand. Some of the odds this weekend the bookies got wrong — good weekend to bet. Remember kids: gamble responsibly, unlike Uncle Rick.

AFL Roar Mvp 3- Lachie Neale 22touches and 4 goals for the midfielder. Really sparked the come back with the goal after half time and another early goal in the 3rd. 2-Clayton Oliver The red headed bull was at his best again with 26touches and alot of clearances. 1- Nat Fyfe The captain put in another good performance. Took 2 huge marks early and was pivotal in the final quarter.

Hogan's suspension is really hurting the Demons. They'll need to get more disciplined and more accurate in front of goal before they'll be a real finals threat
