Mannah's move to Tigers officially scuttled; will remain with Eels until season's end

Parramatta co-captain Tim Mannah will remain with the NRL club until the end of the NRL season.

Tim Mannah’s mooted move to the Wests Tigers has been kiboshed after confirmation he will remain with Parramatta until the end of the NRL season.

Mannah appeared set for a shock move to the Tigers last week after losing his spot in the top-17 with the Eels under coach Brad Arthur.

However the Eels on Tuesday confirmed their co-captain would see out his contract with the club, which expires at the end of the year.

“We are delighted that Tim will play out the 2019 season here at the Eels,” Eels chief executive Bernie Gurr said in a statement.

“Tim is in his 11th NRL season with the Eels and continues to be an outstanding contributor to our club.”

The Tigers were expecting to add Mannah when the former NSW State of Origin prop reportedly requested a release from his club last week.

Tigers coach Michael Maguire was open about his desire to add some leadership to his young and experienced forward pack.

However Mannah is now likely to finish his career a one-club man.

“I am very happy to be staying at the Eels. I am a Parramatta Eels junior and I love our club,” Mannah said.

“My total commitment is to helping our club be successful. I appreciate the support from our wonderful members and fans.”

Mannah, 31, is without a contract for next year but has been linked with a move to the Super League.

The Eels went on to hint that this year could be his last in the NRL, saying the 2009 grand finalist would have a post-career role with the club.

“The club will discuss Tim’s future involvement with the club following the completion of his football career,” the Eels said.

Yes, but he needs to play a minimum number of first grade games this year to be able to apply for a UK visa. His time is up? He is the Eels second best prop by every metric. Doesn't make him a world beater, but he is entitled to want to go to the UK and try and earn as much as he can for as long as he can isn't he?

Sounds like the Tigers wouldn't pay up the extras required for Tim to move away from Wenty ?

totally agree, BD. Hi style of footy makes him an old 31. If Super League wants him, I say go for it. Enjoy the Brits hospitality, have a bit of a look around the Old Dart and get ready for retirement.

maybe Mrs Mannah - she'd have to wash a different footy jumper.

You beat me to it. His contract finishes at years end. Hey now looking at Super League, that's just what they want over their. Why doesn't he retire gracefully. Some players want to squeeze every last drop but don't realize their time is up.

How can a bloke be all but training with a new Club, because he's clearly not happy at the Eels, somehow backflip and stay "with the Club he loves"?

Should never have got to this with a Club captain and a guy with an unblemished record. Parramatta continue to be a basket case off the field.

If Junior Paulo is the best prop at Parramatta, who is the second best prop?
