How to watch Bangladesh play Australia and why it's not on Fox Sports

By The Roar / Editor

It’s been confirmed that Foxtel and Kayo will not be showing the first-ever T20 series between Australia and Bangladesh which starts tonight.

In a lot of overseas tours, Foxtel has managed to secure the rights at the last minute when it appeared that no Australian broadcaster would be showing the cricket.

It was assumed that the same thing would happen with the Bangladesh tour just as it did with the World Test Championship final earlier this year.

However, this time around the rights have not been secured by Foxtel. We don’t know the exact reasons but the costs for the rights and the late starting time of the matches no doubt contributed with the T20 tonight not starting until 10pm AEST.

How to watch Bangladesh vs Australia in the T20 series?
Australia will play five T20s against Bangladesh starting in Dhaka.

The matches were expected to be shown on YouTube for free through RabbitholeBD Sports on YouTube but that information has since changed according to cricket.com.au.

“The series is being streamed in some regions on YouTube via the RabbitholeBD Sports channel, including in Bangladesh, but that service is also not available to viewers in Australia,” their website stated once the first T20 started.

That means there’s no ‘easy’ way to watch the series from Australia.

What time does it start?
All five matches start at 10pm AEST.

T20 1: August 3
T20 2: August 4
T20 3: August 6
T20 4: August 7
T20 5: August 9

Australian squad:
Matthew Wade (c), Wes Agar, Ashton Agar, Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey, Dan Christian, Josh Hazlewood, Moises Henriques, Mitchell Marsh, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Josh Philippe, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Adam Zampa

Absolute disgrace on behalf of foxtel. They have a dedicated cricket only channel and they choose not to show Australia on that channel but to show England versus India. Shameful money hungry business decision there. They make enough money to cop a small hit in their back pocket and give Australian paying foxtel viewers the respect they are deserved. I've been with foxtel for 20 years now and if what we want to watch isn't on there maybe its time to get rid of foxtel all together.

Yeah. I similarly wasted an hour of my life trying to secure viewing. Ultimately the blame probably rests with BCB as it’s their home series and they have control re broadcast content. Now I’m just peeved off. — Foxtel would pick up the series if on acceptable commercial terms; TBH, from a BCB perspective, you’d think even a “free” broadcast deal to Fox Sports/Kayo would be of immeasurable value to Bangladeshi cricket into the Australian market re establishing their “brand” for the future. I have no idea what’s happening behind the scenes, but I suspect it may have a bit to do with short-term, short-sightedness on the part of BCB. — A shame all round as Bangladesh cricket right now play an exciting brand of cricket and the time zones work well into Australia.

Honestly I’m really disappointed by the lack of communication between BCB and CA for this series. Settled in for a fun night late-night cricket only to find out my hour of searching for a broadcaster was in vain.

According to cricket.com.au this is now NOT on rabbithole which seems to have changed at the last minute from what was published today. It's all very confusing for people trying to watch. "The series is being streamed in some regions on YouTube via the RabbitholeBD Sports channel, including in Bangladesh, but that service is also not available to viewers in Australia."

From a Cricinfo post: "This is going to be one of the most confusing series with 3 Hossain's, 3 Ahmed's, 3 Mohammad's, 3 Hasan's, 2 Islam's in Bangladesh and 2 Ashton's, 2 Agar's, 2 Mitchell's, 2 Josh's in Australia."

Reckon this will be a ripper of a series. Too many Aussies underestimate Bangladesh's capabilities. Still waiting for Rabbithole to commence broadcast, which is frustrating.

Wow Jeff didn’t know that was on icc tv. I watched it chrome casting it from rabbithole’s channel. So I would guess that ICC did use rabbithole’s feed

The recent BAN-ZIM series was also on icc.tv. Would the ICC have used Rabbitholebd's broadcast feed?

Rabbitholebd have been excellent with their coverage over the past few years and have done a great job broadcasting Bangladesh games to their overseas viewers since 2017
