NRL Round 25 teams: Mass restings for Rabbitohs and Eels, but Panthers stay at full strength

By The Roar / Editor

The NRL Round 25 teams have been revealed.

South Sydney and Parramatta will be fielding virtually unrecognisable lineups compared to last weekend after opting to give several players the week off as the NRL’s home-and-away season enters its final week.

Only five of the Rabbitohs starters from last week will line up against St George Illawarra on Saturday night, with Adam Reynolds, Dane Gagai, Damien Cook, Alex Johnston, Cody Walker, Cameron Murray and Jai Arrow all being rested. The suspended Latrell Mitchell is the eighth starter to miss.

Parramatta have also opted to hand out holidays, with Clint Gutherson, Mitchell Moses, Dylan Brown, Isaiah Papali’i and Nathan Brown all getting a rest. Marata Niukore is also out with a head knock, while Junior Paulo has been suspended.

The Storm will play Cronulla on Friday night resting Cam Munster, Felise Kaufusi, Christian Welch and Kenneath Bromwich – although Josh Addo-Carr (hamstring) and Jesse Bromwich (suspension) will also join them on the sidelines.

Penrith, on the other hand, have named a full-strength side as they hope to steal the minor premiership.

Well Bunny that’s a rant to match Robbo’s .I’ll leave you too it, but I suggest you have a Bex and a good lie down.Incidentally my prediction that the Chooks revenge ploy to play the Bunnies in the finals is coming true

Haha nice try again this time with the old deflection strategy. Your original post and self proclaimed even handed response was simply full of errors that I was pointing out to you. You can’t comprehend so it seems I will have to do it again. 1. You stated the roosters couldn’t change their ladder position – I pointed out that was not the case with a couple of scenarios. Strike 1. 2. You then suggested the Rabbitohs could potentially have another meltdown in week 2 of the finals. – I pointed out the Roosters had the meltdown with abuse of officials, ref and then JWH pushing a cameraman. Strike 2. Then you stated that the roosters desire for Rabbit Stew would see them kick Canberra to 2022. To do that they would need to loose and as such give Canberra a chance. Strike 3 and out. My post was simply pointing this out to you. I don’t know how someone can make so many errors in a matter of a few sentences but then you double down and incorrectly assume I have a hatred for the Roosters – this is not the case (can you have 4 strikes) and you can go back and have a look at all my comments to see this. Perhaps you should let your red mist subside before posting again as if you feel you have been even handed in your response please come back to me as I have a nice bridge I would like to sell you.

All year? Round 14 onwards. It definitely gives Desy the early mark option though, playing the extra back on the bench. Better hope Walker doesn’t get a starting number though. They’ve lost 6 out of the last 7 times he’s started.

Do you mean Dally M? Don’t think one week matters. Turbo Tom’s for sure, even with fewer games played.

If the coach goes all out to try & win the minor premiership, by putting his best team in the final game of the regular season. He’s telling his team that’s he’s confident of winning against any opponent in the finals. Not matter who they have to play. That’s exactly what the team needs!

Fark, nothing like a 113 year rivalry. the game is better for it. Not debating the Mitchell tackle as it was worrying, but Robbo is unbearable, the roosters in round 3 had a vendetta against Arrow, in so much that they lost the plot and dont think Robbo pulled anyone in line, I think they came into this game with the same mentality, the reports from the sideline and and half time by the abuse of the roosters added the fuel and this was before the (unfortunate) Latrell incident.

Wow ,To you and BIg Mig -this Toxic hatred for the Chooks has provided the red mist just like Latrell..Cool it ,I thought my comment was even handed.,obviously not for the super sensitive Bunnies. From most impartial observer this whole scenario has evolved from Latrells emotional unprrofessional tackle.- He’s a Bunnies player so suck it up guys. For the record I think Robbo is the biggest Whinging Coach in the NRL

Horsburgh seems to have a lot of mistakes in him. I'd take James over him any day.

Young Ryley Smith a junior Australian Rep at Cricket , League. First class opener at Cricket for Penrith. Also knocked back an offer from Melbourne to stay at the Panthers. Much like Brandon Smith, he could well be the future first grade hooker at Penrith & will be on a development contract next season. You have to ask why Melbourne need him? Brandon Smith & Grant there now.

Probably better to be rested and win the Clive Churchill Medal instead.

I'd welcome another roosters thumping (54-12, 60-8) at the hands of Souths in the finals just to see another roosters melt down, dummy spit, whinge, cry, abuse of all and sundry and send them out of the finals for good. Would be worth the price of my KAYO subscription alone (since I cant attend the game).

Not so sure Paul ? One team will be desperate playing for a spot in the 8. The other is safe either way and down on troops ? I'm not writing off the Sharks.

My first thought: Could Bennett resting Cody Walker, cost Walker his chance to win the Player Of The Year Award?

Will be interesting to see the final Parra line up - they have both Browns and Papalii sitting on the reserves list. Big call by coach Arthur - they finally found a bit of form against the Storm and now decide to rest half their team. It could be a masterstroke. Given they are playing a full strength Penrith maybe they decided there wasn't much point in risking their better players for not much reward. It is a bit of a sign that they didn't expect or want to win the game though.

James hasn't done a lot wrong or Dunamis Lui. And I thought James and Horsburgh were very good for the Dogs when given an opportunity. I guess it shows the depth of the forwards in the Raiders squad with James, Lui, Horsburgh and Guler all competing for spots and Papalii and Tapine in the starting team. If there were a couple of injuries I suspect both James and Lui would be playing. CHN is missing as well through suspension.

Tough one to call. Apparently the senior players in the team wanted Sia in the team given his contribution to the club and the recent loss of his mother. The players will be giving it everything to make him a winner in possibly his last game for the club. The chooks have three very experienced top shelf players returning. And they will be fired up after last week's events with Joey Manu's injury. It should be an absolute cracker of a game and could easily go either way.
