Sydney Swans’ Jordan Dawson has informed Adelaide of his desire to join the Crows during the upcoming trade period, Adelaide said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The Crows will now work with Sydney to finalise a deal to secure the South Australian who has played 64 games since being drafted with Pick No.56 in 2015,” the statement said.
Dawson, 24, had reportedly been choosing between the Crows and Port Adelaide and had toured both clubs ahead of making a choice. He is coming off a career-best season in 2021.
Dawson, a left footer who was a boyhood Crows fan, was third in the Swans best and fairest award this season.
He starting the season at half-back, before excelleing as a wingman in the second half of the season.

Nope, didn't mean that at all Port will take its rightful spot as the biggest club in the SA again in the next few years as well, just a bit of salt for your still open wound

You mean lied to the SANFL and went behind their back. Hard to face facts for a club that places so much importance on history.

Julie, agree. Port in fact you could almost say the Crows as well seem to lake that killer instinct, especially in finals. And it is totally ok to bag Port

Comfort in the fact that Port Adelaide betrayed the SANFL for their AFL ambition?

Roger, I dont like to "bag" any team but (truly) Port's record in GF or PF has not been good! Big margin "blow-outs" seem to be the trend (mostly). They lost to Geelong in 2007 GF by 119 points and last week against Bulldogs (at home - A.O.) by 71 points. The only other massive blow out game I can recall was 2019 GF where Richmond beat GWS by 89 points (114 to 25).

Thanks for the info, Julie. If McAsey were traded to Sydney, his position in the AFL side also wouldn't be guaranteed. Will Gould is also trying to get a game in Sydney and has signed on for one more year and I hope that it comes together for Gould in that time. Young key position players like McAsey do take their time to develop. Another tall key position prospect that is taking his time is Josh Worrell, who played his first AFL game this year. It remains to be seen if the promise that list managers saw in McAsey and Worrell as juniors comes to fruition as senior players. Sadly, not all first round picks go on to bigger and better things. Despite Talia not playing for the Crows due to injury, Fischer McAsey still hasn't been able to get a game with the Adelaide team in 2021. McAsey may have re-signed with the Crows, but I am not sure that he would complain about being traded to a young Sydney team that played finals. I was just floating an idea on how to solve a likely trade issue, but it would unlikely to be even a consideration on Sydney's radar and Adelaide would be unlikely agree to it. If McAsey turns out to be an elite defender in due course, he will eventually find a place in an AFL side.

I take comfort in the fact that Port has basically never recovered from that stain on their reputation! ????

Chris, Fischer McAsey has re-signed with Adelaide for 2 more years (2023). I suspect that he was iffy with Adelaide because his position in the AFL team was not a given! Now that Talia has been "let go" he agreed to re-sign (that was not the only reason though). Adelaide has also "lost" Jake Kelly back to Victoria so this trade for Jordan was fairly important for them to continue their "climb" back up the ladder!

Tippett was born in Sydney, but moved to the Gold Coast a couple of months later, where he lived until he was drafted by the Crows. Hard to see how Sydney would be his "home" compared to Gold Coast. But they did have a nice cost of living allowance.

I always take comfort in knowing that the only reason the Crows exist is because of Port

Chad Warner has been terrific - tough too for a young bloke - hope we can keep him.

Yes but that is not even close to "homesick". Homesick is kiddy tears and tanties. Critics don't seem to understand the distinction.

“Jordan has indicated to the club his desire to return to South Australia to be closer to family," Sydney general manager of footy Charlie Gardiner said.

1990 was a pretty obvious example of Port being left in the cold!

Sad to see but thank good its not Port, another top Swan might tip them over the edge to winning in finals.
