The Western Bulldogs won’t take further action regarding an incident on the Gold Coast involving Bailey Smith, which has led to a complaint to police against the AFL star.
The 20-year-old was at the Burleigh Pavilion on the southern end of the Gold Coast with a small group of his teammates a week after the Bulldogs’ AFL grand final loss to Melbourne in Perth.
Another man has complained to police he was pushed by Smith outside the pub just after midnight on Monday, October 4.
“Police have received a complaint in relation to an alleged assault of a 22-year-old man at Goodwin Terrace around 12.10am on Monday October 4,” a Queensland police spokesperson told AAP.
“The man was transported to hospital for treatment.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
No charges have been laid and it’s understood Smith has not been spoken to by police.
The Bulldogs have notified the AFL after looking into the circumstances of the incident.
“The club has conducted its own investigation and is satisfied that no further action is required at this point in time,” a statement given to AAP said.
An AFL spokesperson confirmed to AAP the league had been informed but added they too were satisfied “no further action” needed to be taken at this stage.
Smith is one of the most popular figures in the AFL, developing a huge social media following since he was drafted by the Bulldogs in 2018.

Please dont believe everything you read in the media. Presumably in todays Nine network Age and definitely in Sydney Morning herald (SMH), BS award goes to "AFL women lead hospitalisations" No mention in 2 pages of detailed stats that AFLs injury rate (940 for 700K players) is much much less than Rugby codes (648 for <50K women players). Eve of AFLW season which is on (surprise) other TV networks. BTW I'm a Rugby man. Nine Network fighting for NRL FTA TV rights (NRL talking to & Network about SOO rights) so perhaps showing the NRL their "NRL worthiness"

The police haven't spoken to Smith, the Dogs are fine with it (and they get very anxious about poor exposure) why is this news? The Dogs will send someone to tell Smith to pull his head in a little and that's all that's needed.

How do you know he did this? Isn’t it possible he went from WA to QLD? If he didn’t visit his parents, so what? The incident with Hunter happened two years ago and I note that Power has conveniently forgotten the Wingard BBQ drink driving scandal when he was at Port. This smacks of a media beat up due to no interesting AFL stories and QLD about to get a new NRL team. If the police find something then throw the book at him but maybe, just maybe, it’s a storm in a teacup. ????????

Smith's ego is almost as big as the number 1 Suns fan. One has talent one has way to much time on his hands and research can't forget the research.

Bailey Smith was given a warning for breaching the directions issued by the chief health officer and slogged with a $1652 fine by police for picking up vice-captain Lachie Hunter and driving him to another teammate’s house after Hunter drunkenly crashed his car into 4 parked cars. Police were called following reports a Toyota SUV had crashed into the parked cars on Wright Street. When officers arrived, the Toyota was found but the driver had left the scene. Smith was understood to have driven Hunter to Gowers’ South Yarra home.
