Fiery Victorian quick James Pattinson has copped a one-game suspension and been fined for an ugly incident in the Sheffield Shield clash with NSW.
The recently-retired international bowler came under scrutiny for his antics in the final day of the match at the MCG.
Pattinson endured a frustrating day on Monday as NSW opener Daniel Hughes fought valiantly to try to secure a draw.
The Victorian firebrand should have had Hughes dismissed before lunch, but Pattinson overstepped on a ball that popped up to short-leg.
In the second session, Pattinson threw a ball back in anger towards the stumps and hit Hughes flush on his foot.

The 31-year-old was charged and found guilty by Cricket Australia for throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner.
He was fined his entire match fee for the Shield game, which Victoria won by 174 runs, and will miss Friday’s one-day match against the Blues.
Pattinson has the right to appeal the decision.
Victoria captain Peter Handscomb confirmed after the game umpires had spoken to him about the incident.
“He’s a fiery boy, old Patto,” Handscomb said.
“We had a little quiet chat, the umpires and myself, just to see what they were thinking, but we’ll move on.”
Pattinson surprised many by last month announcing his retirement from international cricket.
In a career that promised so much, the injury-plagued star finished with 81 wickets at an average of 26.33 from 21 Tests.
Pattinson also played 15 one-day matches for Australia and four T20s.

What is his "meaningful average"? 32 cowering at square leg?

Disagree. That's the sort of angry hair that wins ashes. I'm thinking Thommo's do, Mitchell Johnson's handlebar, Merv, Lillee's chest hair Get that lunatic back pinging leather at englishmen!

All keepers in fc have no trouble with speed. Its those leggies or spinners going leg side or a bouncy wicket that is hardest. Ben Foakes is widely regarded as England best wicketkeeper and has a great test batting ave but can't get a test. As the pecking order goes I think Carey is potentially captaincy material for Australia. Whatever all those guys are better keepers than Wade who still gets an OzT20 gig because he might score runs one day. That day needs to be soon.

Peirson is standing up to Neser. That’s not doing great things for Neser’s street cred with selectors.

When it comes to Australian cricket first names, has Cameron overtaken Mitchell and Josh as the most common? WA has three of them!

Ask him what Bradman's Test average is. That'll sift out the pretenders.

Guru gets Goodwin. This could be a 2 day match.
