Transfer rumours: McGree and Postecoglou to be reunited at Celtic, an emotional departure for Insigne and Pogba's journey continues to baffle us all

Celtic continued their recent spree of signings, with 18-year-old Irishman Johnny Kenny joining the club on a five-year deal.

Along with the three Japanese stars recently signed and now on their way to Parkhead, the manager Ange Postecoglou is slowly building depth in the hope of one day returning Celtic to serious contention in major European competitions.

Australian Riley McGree impressed at Birmingham on loan and now looks like a prime target for a manager who knows his talent all too well.

Napoli have similar aspirations to the Scottish powerhouse and Axel Tuanzebe has joined the club on loan until the end of the current season.

After time spent at Aston Villa on a temporary basis, the 24-year-old Englishman will now head to Naples in an effort to revive a career that initially looked bright within the Manchester United system, where he was one of the mostly promising players.

Bologna are also active in the window, with an approach made to Aberdeen over their future plans for right-back Calvin Ramsay imminent.

The 18-year-old has been on the radar of a host of clubs, with Leicester City and Eintracht Frankfurt others interested in acquiring the services of a player likely to be a long-term proposition for the successful bidder.

As is the way, Aberdeen are asking for plenty to see the young man depart and any club hoping to snatch him had best be prepared to pay a record fee.

In potentially the biggest news set to break in the UK, Cristiano Ronaldo has apparently instructed his management to open discussions with Manchester United in an effort to map out a clear path for the Portuguese’s future, with signings in the transfer window key to the competitiveness of Ralf Rangnick’s squad over the coming months.

Essentially, Ronaldo wants to play for a team capable of winning and should United continue in the same vein as recent times and not sign talent capable of redirecting the narrative, one of the world’s greatest footballers will almost certainly want out.

In France, Lille remain keen to hang on to central defender Sven Botman, however Newcastle United have apparently approached the club for a second time, keen to see the Norwegian join as quickly as possible.

Lille have apparently set a higher price (€41 million) ($A65 million) on his head than Newcastle’s new owners are prepared to pay and this may end up being one of those transfer window deals that just never comes to fruition.
