England team: Eddie Jones makes three changes to starting lineup for third Test

By The Roar / Editor

Eddie Jones made two changes to his pack and brought back scrumhalf Danny Care in the only change to the backline for the third Test against Australia on Saturday.

Lock Ollie Chessum comes in in the second row for his first start for England while Lewis Ludlam starts at No.7.

In an unchanged front row hooker Jamie George is joined by props Ellis Genge and Will Stuart.

Captain Courtney Lawes is blind-side flanker, Jonny Hill stays at lock and Billy Vunipola is No. 8.

Danny Care comes in at scrum half ahead of Jack van Poortvliet in the only backs change.  Marcus Smith is at fly half, Owen Farrell is inside centre and Guy Porter is outside centre.

Tommy Freeman stays on the left wing, Jack Nowell is on the right wing and Freddie Steward is full back.

Nick Isiekwe could make his first appearance in the series after being named as “finisher”.  He is joined by Luke Cowan-Dickie, Mako Vunipola, Joe Heyes, Jack Willis, Jack van Poortvliet, Will Joseph and Henry Arundell.

Jones said: “We’ve had a squad of 36 this tour who have competed hard and we’re really proud of their efforts.

“We go into this Test with a strong squad of 23.  It’s a young, inexperienced but together group who have developed well throughout this series.

“We want to play with purpose and energy to win the series and an historic Test match at the Sydney Cricket Ground.”

Australia named their team earlier Thursday.

He's the most successful English coach since professionalism. I don't think he's going anywhere.

Unless Jones - and who knows - is trying a double bluff - this selection will provide Australia with a clear view of how England intend to play. Narrow and with power. Jones is trying a bit of expectation management - as whilst one or two of the 23 are inexperienced, in the main, most of the newer players have plenty of Prem experience. This selection suggests an even narrower plan - as Van P at 9 did offer a fast pass to whichever first receiver was in place - and Care will likely kick more too. The way into the game for the Aussies is that if they manage to stop England's expected fast start and get more of the ball, England's set up doesn't look like it has many alternative ideas to the power and kick game. Keep within a score at HT and this England fan will be nervous as hell....And if the Aussies manage their chances better than last week, their red zone delivery is excellent and it could easily be enough to win. But allow England ball and time and it could be a long evening.

PIE- I suspect and hope you were be Sarcastic. Jones is erratic in his selections and increasingly irrational. I can only assume the RFU don’t want to pay out his contract because he is not delivering for English Rugby and should be given the boot.

As expected. The good news for England fans is that Eddie has moved towards his best 23, injuries notwithstanding

You'd have got VERY long odds 6 months ago that this England team would be running out in Sydney. Ah well, needs must.

Never seen him play before, but looked like he has what it takes. I expect him to get a fair go in the second half.
