The Brisbane Lions can still steal the minor premiership if they knock off the Carlton Blues at The Gabba and hope for an upset elsewhere. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:40pm (AEST).

Brisbane made it six straight wins last week after seeing off a dogged challenge from the Swans to prevail by 32 points – a margin even the most one-eyed Lions fan would admit flattered them. They haven’t been playing perfectly, despite their lengthy winning streak, and will want to put a good win on the board ahead of finals.

Despite some good performances, Carlton haven’t really had the season they wanted in 2020, with last week’s loss to Adelaide particularly disappointing. Asking them to finish off with a win here is a very tall order, but they’d want to put in a consistent and competitive performance at the very least.

The last time these sides met was David Teague’s first game in charge of the Blues, a match they won by 15 points. The Lions had won six of the previous seven meetings, however, and haven’t lost to Carlton at home since 2013.

OKPeter, let's compare us to the Lions, between 2011 and 2015 how many top 30 picks did each team have. How many academy/father sons players have each side taken and where? How many games missed through injury hav each side had in the past 3 years? How long have the Lions spent on the road this year? How long in quarratine?

I just can’t understand you not demanding better for Carlton Kane. Macca just accepts his lot too. Col does at least express his frustration and desire for more. 5 year rebuilds ? Look at Brisbane. That should be your comparison to where you are now not more hope of draft picks and never ending promises of the future. I don’t personally care about the Blues I just don’t understand people accepting mediocrity. It seems to me the Blues are so intent on building to contend over multiple years that by the time they get the list they want, the first part of the rebuild list are already on the wane or out the door. I’m not gloating. Pies have only had 2 AFL era flags and one this century but at least we contend repeatedly and when we don’t for a few years we demand improvement. Collingwood have rebuilt a new side since our 2010-2011 GFs and Carlton fans are still waiting.

Don't stress I would make the same Sisyphean comparison with any retiring Essendon 300 game champion at the moment, only difference is that previous impossible task would have been to get the Bombers to win a final  :crying:
