Essendon spearhead Peter Wright returns for his first game of the season as his Bombers take on Carlton at the MCG. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:15pm (AEST).
Since injuring his shoulder on the eve of the season, Wright has missed a strong start to 2022 from the Bombers, defying doubters to be on track for a shock finals berth after 12 rounds.
The Blues, meanwhile, have underachieved; touted as a premiership contender, they sit 14th having lost five games in a row, and another loss here would all but rule them out of finals contention already.

"Except it’s a pretty basic thing" Again -, exactly what I said. Carlton weren't great but had more disposals, more inside 50's, more contested possession, more uncontested possession, more contested marks, more scoring shots, more shots on goal and lost the clearances by just 3 and the marks inside 50 by just 2 - change that "basic thing" (and do better than 18-32 in the free kick count, especially in the push in the back dept) and the result could well have been very different.

Except it’s a pretty basic thing, the bombers were deserved winners and Carlton were awful

Nah mate Carlton needed to make more of their opportunities

He is when he came to us he was severely lacking in confidence but he has outscored all the suns forwards in his time at Essendon.

Wouldn’t surprise. He hasn’t got a defined role and can’t be guaranteed a game. Huge talent though so it’s disappointing.

I heard today that TDK will definitely depart Carlton once season ends. He sees no future or success at Carlton. A shame .

And being dominated by Taranto and Bolton. Also Broad and Vlaustin being impenetrable in our back half. And Nank doing whatever he liked in the ruck. Jack putting your skipper in his place . . . too old and too slow of body and mind. The list of 'differences' goes on and on, a very long list indeed. Freo were owned in every facet of the game. If it weren't for inept umpiring favouring the Dockers big time it would have been a crushing defeat for Freo. They got owned on their home deck!

Stats don’t mean jack sh##, I don’t reckon I seen one piece of play where we dominated, it was all kick and hope for the best. We are very poorly coached. Don’t know what kind of game plan entails having no one in the forward 50 during normal play. The midfielders get a break away then there’s no one to kick it to, so all our shots at goal are from long range. No wonder we’re only kicking 6 goals and a heap of points a game. The club is buggered, needs a clean out from top to bottom and no player should be exempt from being traded. Adam Cerra has been our one and only player this year that has performed consistently and has had a crack. Hollands has probably been our only other one and he’s in his first year which says it all, he’s probably the only bloke that has shown any sort of passion

Second quarter we kicked 2.5 to 2.2 (both Essendon goals cam very late) and in the last we kicked 1.6 to 2.1

Bombers headed for finals it seems. For the Blues I guess finals are over and it’s on to next year

Haha not sure I can fully commit to that but yeah gotta back someone from here. When I was 9yo I once switched to Richmond for a week when Carlton had lost their first five games in a row. Then Jezza got appointed coach and we won a game and I was straight back on the Blues who then went on a winning streak and won 3 premierships in 4 years. Coaches make a huge difference. I’m afraid it’s looking like we chose the wrong one again. I do like the old rival clubs from the VFL days. Hated Pies back then but not so much now.

Pete let’s get on Collingwood 2023- we can’t have an interstate club winning .

De Koning is the only one of them I would trade, Kennedy is another I would consider.

Duh...Freo, of course! Don't give up footy. You don't have to win to enjoy things. There's always something about your team that makes your heart sing.

I honestly thought they would get up tonight- I won’t tip em again 2023
