The Fremantle Dockers can knock the Western Bulldogs out of the finals when they clash at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns. Join The Roar for live scores from 6:10pm (AEST).

The Dockers exited the finals race some time ago, but have the opportunity to finish off a very encouraging season with a win over their more-fancied opponents this evening. Superior percentage means a win would see them leapfrog GWS and finish tenth – their highest finish since 2015’s minor premiership.

For the Western Bulldogs, there couldn’t be more to play for. A win secures them (in all likelihood) a seventh-placed finish and an elimination final against St Kilda, whereas a loss means they forfeit their finals position to Melbourne. Although they haven’t been the most consistent team in 2020, they enter tonight in good form and will back themselves to get the job done.

Despite losing the most recent meeting by 47 points, Freo enjoy a surprisingly strong record against the Bulldogs lately, winning eight of the last ten meetings overall. They have an imperious record over the Doggies outside of Melbourne too, having not lost to them away from Docklands Stadium since Round 1, 2009.

And they still named Dusty in the best. He's been butchering it all year. Fyfe has been a Knife.

I had a feeling the dogs would get on a bit of a roll in the 2nd half of the season. They have been excellent and were unlucky to lose the Geelong game. I certainly think they deserved to play finals more than Melbourne in the end, who got ahead of themselves once again after beating Collingwood and St Kilda. The demons choked when it mattered most and shouldn't blame the Bulldogs for stealing their spot in the eight. Longmuir seems the right guy to be leading Freo forward. He means business and they are a good chance to play finals next year with him running the club.

Fair play to the Doggies, they are a good side and for us without Walters and Tabs it was always going to difficult. As much as it would have been great to beat them, I'm kinda glad they are playing finals instead of Melbourne, they are a far better side. As for Freo, good year in my opinion, lots of positives, J-Lo has made this team a lot better, another pre season and finals should be the aim.

Good job Doggies, fully deserve a finals spot. Ahhh Freo, thanks for a year where I actually - for the most part - enjoyed watching your matches. Great year for the club. Onwards and upwards.

That'll do it, good game, Freo took it to them, Fyfe played a monster game and was great to watch but he lacked support, Walters would have helped alot. Good even performance from the bullies. That's what we like to see.
