Fresh off disappointing losses, the Gold Coast Suns and the Port Adelaide Power lock horns in the sunshine state looking to return to the winners’ list. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST) as Saturday afternoon footy commences.

The Power are beginning to win a reputation as flat-track bullies, a label enhanced by their disappointing home loss in Round 13 to Geelong. They’re on a hiding to nothing if they hope to fix that against the lowly Suns, but a win is vital as they strive to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Ruckman Scott Lycett is a crucial inclusion for Ken Hinkley, the important ruckman having served his four-match suspension for a crude sling tackle in Round 8’s Showdown. Without him, the Power have twice lost at home as well as escaped with a one-point win over lowly Collingwood, so perhaps the former Eagle holds the key to their flickering premiership hopes.

Suns fans have been spoilt for choice when it comes to disappointing losses in their ten years in the AFL, but last week’s loss to an injury-depleted Fremantle was right up with any of them. Yes, it was on the road, but Stuart Dew’s side were rife will skill errors, lacked composure with ball in hand, and missed a string of crucial shots that would have had the coach tearing his hair out.

Nevertheless, the Suns are a different prospect at Metricon Stadium, most notably having beaten a finals hopeful in Sydney there this year. The Power can’t head into this one thinking they will be an easy kill.

You'd think so wouldn't you but where's the fun in that.lol. I actually think I'm about even, if not not actually in front again, got fridays, yesterdays and first goal kicker yesterday, so I pulled some cash back out last night so that's always a good thing.lol. If I get the ones today I'll be laughing, got a 5 way multi on all the results still going and got one for essendon to win, tippy for a goal and Mitchell 25 +, both are dependent on essendon though so it might be worth a small wager on the hawks.lol.

So i backed gws last night but it didn't work for you, yet i also had Walsh in a multi for 25 plus. Wtf. Goes along the lines of having king from gc for one goal last week and the 1st game in his short AFL career, he kicked no goals.fml.lol.

Yes I recall Thom trying to stick the boot in after the suns only lost by ~20 points in their first game. Young teams start hot but fade a la Sydney. Shame if they can't keep the side together though...

Matti, it’s Saturday night. Say it straight. Anyone with half a dozen cans under their belt doesn’t want to read an essay. Do you want a Tassie team ? Do you want an nrl team in Perth ? and do you like rainbows on a mild a day in July ?

I find it hard to engage in anything in GCS beyond geez it took a long time for hawthorn or in more modern times Freo to become competitive, if your club is run well like wce it shouldn't worry about any other club who've gotten draft assistance like hawthorn I guess did when clarko first arrived and if Tassie want a side turn up regardless whoever is playing professional sport is worth it, WA wants a Nrl side again and are turning up in their droves to Soo to show support and we got readmitted to super Rugby in no part to the crowds who turned up to Bledisloe cup which again has sold out in record time and let's not forget AFL wise our support over past two years to non WA sides games.....ray Liotta said if you build it they will come and that's what the Qld govt did for the AFL not rely on the we are a footy state.
