GWS number one draft pick Aaron Cadman makes his debut as they take on Hawthorn in Norwood for Gather Round. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 3:20pm (AEST).
After taking the fight right to Geelong in the first half on Easter Monday, the Hawks conceded 10 goals to nothing in the third term to be thrashed by 82 points. This year, the Hawks have managed a single major in four third quarters, with a differential of -147.
Youth comes first for Sam Mitchell this year, and in naming another debutant in Seamus Mitchell with emerging star Will Day missing through suspension, the coach is continuing that policy.
The Giants have been plucky at times this year, but their latest loss to Essendon probably sums up where they sit in the pecking order at the moment. It’s all about building for years to come, and in naming Cadman for his first AFL game, fans get a chance to see exactly what he can provide down the track.

Sounds very familiar to Eddie Betts going back to Carlton. I'm sure the Chad would be a much better last piece of the jigsaw than one to build around. But given the scuttlebutt you previously alluded to, would he be welcomed back? Especially with Hinkley still there? It would be the final kick in the guts to have him go back to port and absolutely star!

Left field question, what the chances of chad ending back at Port only probs would be you guys wouldn't get alot back but with fantasia and his body continuing to fail him I think he gets a rookie deal at best if allowed too, but if hawks wanted to move some players on for cheap I wonder if we'd look at chad coming back, at his best he would be great in the forward line and if he cost sfa could be worth a shot. Now I've said this out loud it sounds very unlikely but stranger things have happened.lol.

He had no knee left basically was the joke, if I remember rightly.lol. Yeah 100% man it was definitely an odd one at the time especially as you said he wanted to stay. We were lucky.we didn't do it this year with the whole.jhf trade nobody wanted to go and we didn't force the issue although I reckon there might be one or two this year that are behind a few other players that might look.for more opportunity. Thanks man im not convinced myself.yet but better to win than lose.i guess.

Hahaha the silk trade was one in a million. All but gone then plays another 200 games  But seriously Burton was happy and willing to stay, that's a culture killer. Anyway kudos on the turn in form this year. Hopefully they can carry it on

It was rather odd I presumed burton was no good but hes been very steady and consistent for us. My only guess is clarko thought he was going to strike gold like he did with silk or maybe it was an I owe you thing for just how well the silk trade worked for you guys.lol.

I didn't like that trade from the beginning. I strongly believe that would have had a big impact on the Hawks culture. It was bad enough giving away Lewis and Mitchell, then we start giving away the next generation of players for a player everyone already knew was flaky. Then here's the kicker.... we give you a draft pick to boot!! Find me a more one sided trade!

Clarko tried that in his last few years - it still ended up mediocre. I'm surprised you can't see any greenshoots tbh.

Never except mediocrity, always demand more.

You better get used to it, amigo. That's the path to success.

Whoops. Wrong thread.

Pies starting to turn the screws. Saints defending exceptionally.

Ramsden not Lynch, he is a VFL player at best. A loss is a loss, l'm not one for honorable losses.
Birdman

We can agree on that. Kosi isn't the answer to a second big forward. Would like to see Ramsden or Max Lynch given a go.

They're all bad. We just embraced the fact and that's what makes it work
Dean

Harley Reid's not the answer, still have to kick it to someone. Need to look at another key forward, Lewis's body can't hold up to the elite level. Injured every year.
Dean

Not good enough, when they had the run they made critical errors. Jiath and Morrison both tried to be heroes and changed the momentum of the game. Could’ve put your house on them to lose that.

Ah c'mon Dean. Far from disappointing with this list.

Nah. It's soooo bad
Dean

Haha knew they wouldn't be able to hold on. Goes to script like every week, not good enough when it matters. Another disapointing week of footy.
