Old powerhouses Richmond and Hawthorn lock horns in a traditional Saturday afternoon blockbuster at the MCG. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 1:45pm (AEST).
The Tigers have Dustin Martin back and are beginning to look like the fearsome side that won three premierships in four years. With a host of other stars, including Kane Lambert, Nick Vlastuin and co-captain Dylan Grimes, also returning in recent weeks, it’s little wonder they have won two games in a row to surge into the eight.
Vlastuin and Dion Prestia are back after missing the win over Collingwood last week due to illness, while the COVID-enforced unavailability of young defender Josh Gibcus has seen Bigoa Nyuon named for his debut. Rhyan Mansell misses through suspension after striking Jack Ginnivan, while veteran Shane Edwards has been managed.
The Hawks have begun to fade after a strong start under Sam Mitchell, losing three in a row and five of their last six following a 2-0 start.
Teams are beginning to beat up on the Hawks around the ball, and their backline hasn’t been able to cope. With ball magnet Tom Mitchell out with illness, and down on form to boot, it’s hard to see them turning this form line around anytime soon.
Sam Butler has been named for his Hawthorn debut as one of four inclusions, with Chad Wingard and Mitch Lewis also boosting the team with their availability after injury and illness – Lewis hasn’t played since the Hawks’ last win, over Geelong on Easter Monday.

Yep. Hard to know if there's a gem to be found in the MSD but the recruitment of Newcombe last season indicates you can get lucky. If there's a ruck option, they might sign on knowing McEvoy is at the end of his career. Pittonet is the one that got away, not Ceglar.

Is the talent going to there? I don't believe a strong ruckman is going to want to be traded to a club that includes McEvoy, Reeves & Lynch. The club has already played it's hand with Lynch, I don't think we are going to find a replacement in the VFL. I could be wrong, and I hope I am.

I agree the current injuries to McEvoy and Reeves have contributed to our poor clearance differential as well as a lack of outlet options. Lynch has exceeded my expectations but hasn't got the tank yet to ruck all day even with an occasional chop-out from a key forward (Kosi) or big mid (Nash). I don't miss Ceglar to be honest - has been injured most of the season so would have made our plight worse if he'd stayed. We may need to consider an ruck in the MSD if our key rucks remain on the sidelines

No one has mentioned it but I really think the Hawks have missed a ruckman taking a strong mark down the line when kicking out of defence. Both the big boy & Reeves are strong overhead marks. It is something that Max Lynch has not been able to provide for the Hawks. I am still confused why Hawthorn traded Ceglar last year & not kept him for depth by playing him at Box Hill. I know he is on more dollars than a VFL player should attract, but the Hawks do not have salary cap issues & a strong marking 204cm ruckman would have come in very handy over the last month.

Your right Don, wins the ball so easily, it’s like he doesn’t need to earn the footy. How is that 2nd goal? No one from Freo could do that. 5 goals 2 games that an average of 60 a year - more than a Freo full forward!

I think I am in the Great Southern or Shane Warne these days. My mate has organised premium tickets. I won’t tell you how much they cost but I would expect oysters and caviar at that price!

Yeah, maybe. Turnovers didn't help his cause at times. Also demonstrates how well Gibcus is going for a first year player.

Was an atrocious standard. Almost every handball from all players missed targets.

Wow! I drew 9 absolutely dumb comments from the feral few then. The one thing is certain; your collective anger says you are very, very worried.

Nyuon is a long way off….probably cost us a couple. Top is probably all set.

As a Tigers fan I'm really disappointed that with our best side in it took so long to get the win. The top 5 sides will crush us in 2 quarters.
