Match preview:

With finals hopes on the line, Port Adelaide visits North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium for a Saturday night clash. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:25pm AEST.

North’s final hopes are technically still alive, albeit so far into mathematical-chance territory that they’re practically non-existent, unfortunately for Rhyce Shaw’s men.

And whatever finals hopes they did have evaporated with last weekend’s horror loss to Geelong, with the club falling to their lowest score in history – 14 measly points.

But, while their finals hopes are out the window, they’ve still got a lot to play for – no doubt they’ll will be wanting a couple of wins to close off what’s been a trying season for the club.

Port Adelaide, though, are back in the eight – tenuously. They’ve above their South Australia rivals – who play earlier on Saturday – on percentage alone, so this win is almost a non-negotiable for the club to strive to secure a finals place.

The Power has been notoriously inconsistent of late, but have garnered strong wins in the past fortnight. Still, the upcoming final two weeks – North today, Freo next week – appear prime for upsets, so they’ll have to be at their best.

Remarkably, after such a hefty loss, the Kangaroos have only made one selection change. Mason Wood has been omitted, with Sam Durdin coming into the side.

Two changes, however, for the Power. Zak Butters and Ryan Burton return to the side, with the duo replacing an injured Xavier Duursma and omitted Cam Sutcliffe.

Prediction
Port’s the easy tip here, and I’m not (usually) one to pass off on tipping the easy way. North’s playing for pride – which can make teams dangerous – but Port simply need to win this one. Surely they won’t drop this one. I’m going to tip them, assuming they will not.

Port Adelaide by 37 points

And an insane 514 disposals for North. Considering that they had seven players with 30+possessions,it stands to reason. Only St Kilda above that total. Exactly the same number of inside fifties as the Eagles had last week, but scored 34 times as opposed to 25. The frees evened up,who’d a thought it. 13 to Port,7 to North in the second half.

A great night for North and plenty to look forward to in 2020. Brown demonstrating how damaging he can be when he is in the groove. A complete turnaround from last week which in some ways highlights the inconsistency in North's performances that they need to address if they want to push into September action next year.

Ten goals to Ben Brown. Another five to Nick Larkey. 34 touches, 28 hit outs and a goal to Todd Goldstein. 37 touches to Ben Cunnington. Some monstrous performances for the Kangaroos tonight, on a horror night for Port Adelaide. North Melbourne: 22.12 (144) Port Adelaide: 8.10 (58)

Good work as usual, AD. Hoping your Dockers can get the job done over the dastardly Dons.

He's a rookie small forward, his job isn't to be a "fan of the hard stuff" just yet. Having said that, his attack on the footy has been just fine this season. It's not really his fault if some of his goals are off the back of his teammates' work.

Q4 '1 BEHIND NORTH MELBOURNE Just about into the final minute now, and Zurhaar's taken a superb contested mark inside fifty. Can he match it with a goal? Nah, he's missed. North Melbourne: 22.12 (144) Port Adelaide: 8.10 (58)

He's not a fan of the hard stuff, hasn't made much body contact this year. Most of his goals have been loose/easy ball gets. No doubt he could be something but he's been getting pumped up a bit more than he's earnt.

I stopped watching at half time, and pretty pleased with that decision looking at this scoreboard. The worst part of this is I have no idea how this club becomes a premiership contender within the next five years. I've been calling for Hinkley to be sacked for the past two years, but that won't magically turn this club into a powerhouse. Seems like Port Adelaide are just destined to be stuck in mediocrity for the foreseeable future.
