Collingwood awaits the winner of Port Adelaide and GWS as they lock horns at the Adelaide Oval in a semi final showdown. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:40pm (AEST).

The big selection news for the Power this weekend is the omission of ex-Giants forward Jeremy Finlayson, who will make way for the returning Charlie Dixon. Ken Hinkley has also elevated veteran Travis Boak into the starting 22 to bring some experience and leadership.

Port have had a great season and will be desperate to bounce back after a disappointing outing against the Lions in Brisbane. It is a big night for the Power’s back six after being dominated by the Lions.

Ollie Lord had a career night last weekend with four goals. The youngster will be looking to continue that form into tonight. Todd Marshall also uncharacteristically missed some simple set shots from close range.

The Giants will welcome back Stephen Coniglio this week after he was a late out for their elimination final against the Saints. Xavier O’Halloran will make way for the gun midfielder this evening.

GWS have been arguably the form team of the competition over the past three months, winning all but 2 of their last 14 games. This is a side with nothing to lose and nothing to prove. The fact that such an inexperienced side, under a new coach, is thriving under the new but old ‘Tsunami’ game style is something to behold.

It’s a big night for Sam Taylor on the defensive end and an even bigger night for Jesse Hogan on the offensive end. These two talls are the key to the Giants success in progressing to the Preliminary final against Collingwood next week.

I am tipping the Giants to get it done by less than 10 points. On their night, the Power can do anything; their young, dynamic midfield brigade are capable of breaking any team open very quickly.

However, the Giants have something about them, they thrive away from home and the Power faithful shouldn’t be able to tear them apart.

IMO no one has found a solution to this problem yet. More psychology than physiology? As a 'work around' - let's take the touched (not handled) hands and posts out of it. The game has changed so much already, and many changes have been for the better to prevent overly defensive play - looking at you Hawthorn for rushed behinds and 16 at the centre bounce. Imagine if we played under the rules from 40 years ago - actually I can't.

Yeah I don’t disagree with the sense of it. The reason BZT conceded the most goals is not solely because of his actions, the bombers midfield sucks at defending the transition and he was frequently manning up on the oppositions best key forward. It got even worse when Jordan Ridley went down

didnt watch much of essendon this year but sounds like BZT had to play on the big forwards of the competition,if Port get Ratugolea BZT will play the 3rd tallish backman role and leave Aliir and Ratugolea to man the bigs so he might be a handy addition and add depth to our backline.Sounds like a Tom Jonas type role replacement to me and he is good to go,players like Jake Pasini or Tom McCollum either won't make the grade or arent ready yet

And, despite every Victorian thinking otherwise, and despite umpire desperation, I also told you Richmond would fold. You've forgotten that or are you still in denial? Strangely, you made no prediction. Only the usual Richmond folk being angry here. I have you at my beck and call. Victims!

Except they’re not world beaters particularly if they can’t put pressure on through the midfield they will lose more games than they win.

The 3 world beaters in the midfield will be a year older so they are less likely to crumble in finals if they make them, next time. The pressure on Ken is exaggerated on The Roar. Joel post a lot when they lose...but it's only Joel.

I’m happy though because a successful GWS team is good for the afl as a whole they just need to develop more academy pathways in Sydney

Although we are arch enemies due my Hawks Homage, I too live in Western Sydney & agree that Sydney fans are more fickle than those south of the Murray.

Haha I hope they’ll be cheering for the giants. If you think Melbourne fans are fickle, Sydney fans are a thousand times worse, living in western Sydney I am finally noticing organic support for the giants up here.

Chuck, I am aware that Victorians are big fans of out of state teams. But what is your feeling on who most Melbournites will be cheering for this Friday?

Giants bigger bodies across the park might worry the Pies in a hard contested game but at the G the Pies should prevail by 6 points.

No Ken Hinkley, going out in straight sets tje power are going to have the hardest fixture next year as well so I reckon without some changes they’re going to drop: they can’t bring talent through the draft so it needs to be trades
